Was on my way to a concert in Clemson the other night and was cruising down a 4 lane highway with my girl and we had an LS1 Trans Am ( non ram air ) do a fly bye on me running about 55 mph. I sped up and fell in behind him and stayed a couple of cars back while going through some traffic. He was driving kinda crazy through traffic running about 85 or so , so I fell back off and let him haul *** up the road. I stayed in the lane behind him and we got stopped at the first of 2 redlights maybe a quarter mile apart. I could tell he had some sort of exhaust, cause it was pretty loud. Before the light turned, he started rolling through by maybe a 1/2 car length. When the light dropped, I launched off of the clutch hard and had to let out to keep from hitting him in 1st gear. When we passed the car that was beside him at the redlight, I was in second and came from behind him and put half a car on him, hit third and had to let out to stop for the next light. This time, we were side by side and I revved it at him a couple of times and he revved back harder!! I told my girl " Im gonna get this crap outta this guys head".... Before the light dropped, he started rolling through again and started out maybe a half a car ahead of me. I came off the clutch hard and spun right bye him, wound 1st gear through 3rd gear out to 7000 and hit my brakes hard a few times after I shut down. Had maybe 4 cars on him EASILY. He wouldnt even look over at me after I shut down a rode beside him. He turns off and gave me a thumbs up out of his window. Guess it was an auto, couldnt really hear him changing gears or working clutch off of the line. It was a red T/A with the T/A wing and damn loud exhaust with the WS6 looking rims....Sweet car!!!!! But he went down to an old RS!!!!! Would have been really ugly if I would have used my new 200 horse shot just installed!!!! I love the way that a hotcam motor pulls!!! Ive rode in mine and a friends hotcam LT1 motor and they pull HARD up top in the RPM's!!! Sorry so long guys....Just wanted to share my kill!!! Dont get many races, so I was happy to win!!! yea thats a fair statement , give the LS1 the same amount of work, actually 1/2 of what the 3rd gen had and see what happens

sorry if my question sounds unreasonable, but in your signature you said that you have 6-speed tranny. Did u swap or 91 RS comes with 6 speed? I always thought that only v-8's get 6 speed?

He swapped it. The only 3rd gen you could get with a 6-speed was a SLP Firehawk i believe...not sure though.

There are quite a few people that have swapped T-56s into 3rd gens.

 

shanebang76, what color was that trans am? I attend Clemson and have probably seen it before. There is a Navy Ram Air Trans Am that runs around here with a loudmouth and a 6 speed. There are a ton of f-bodys over here. More lt-1 than ls-1 though.

 

Agreed- there is NO WAY a 3rd gen could ever beat an LS-1. I don't care how many mods you do to it. It just can't be done. Nobody in the history of the world has ever built a 3rd gen that could go faster than a low 13. Impossible.

I didnt say an equally modded LS1 wouldnt be faster, I used sarcasm to show how people like you see a 3rd gen and knock off on em. If you are going to talk like that you might as well say an equally modded LT1 will never be as fast a LS1. But you drive a LT1 and you would'nt talk about your self, would you ? You better watch picking a fight with the 3rd gen'ers there loyalty runs just as deep as any other Camaro driver.

jthomas, i meant the roll eyes to be sarcasm, I dont know about where you live but around here most people with LS1's think they cant be touched, it's almost as bad a those damn 03' cobra's, there is a guy around here with an 03' (pulley exh, etc) if John force pulled up to him beside a light he would laugh, "this is supercharged, you dont wont none of this".


This is in no way a flame twards a LT1 or LS1 just my opinion

 

lol a third gen could never take an ls1?? what is the ls1 gods miracle engine or what? i know of a focking old school cavalier yes cavalier that can take an ls1 so im sure a third gen at some point can take the holy ls1
