^Um, did you miss tha part where I said that the other car is AWD. His best bet would have been from a stop. I do know my car (this is only the 4th LT1 that I've owned) and I know that I would have either spun or had to baby it out of the hole where he would have just hooked and booked. You might love your car in first and second, but look at your mods and then look at my totally stock hp car. My only mods are lowering springs and wheels. I had a passenger and he was alone so I'm sure that made some difference. It would proably have been dead even without the passenger. I do have drag radials from one of my previous cars and at some point we're gonna run again from a stop after I put them on. Until then, it was just a friendly race for fun, don't talk to me like I totally screwed up and let the great fbody community down.

2.73's are killing you. I bet that volvo has more torque multiplied through the drivetrain than you do. torque*first gear*rear end gear

Even though the 2.73's hurt you alot, the gear ratio in the 4l60e in first gear is like 3.06. I love 1st and 2nd in my car (h/c/exh.+some spray w/3.73's). You just need to learn to launch, and get some good tires.
+1...I mentioned teh same thing and got joked, so i won't try and help him anymore. Driver mod goes a long way.....

^Did you completely fail to see that it was a roll race from about 60 mph? How exactly am I supposed to "drive" my auto better from a roll? Please enlighten me...

I'm really interested in hearing this one too. How does one race from a 60 punch any "better" in an automatic vehicle?

The Volvo packs a 6spd automatic, meaning that it has the gearing advantage from a stop or a roll. Coupled with AWD, it's no slouch off the line even for a 4100+lb sedan. That's a Yamaha-built V8 too so you know it revs almost like a Civic.

rasputin has it right -- the math is in the Volvo's favor in this case. There's nothing the OP can do but make some changes if he wants a different outcome vs the S80.

... 02 Corvette Z06 (Weekend cruiser) ...
Since you were busted on the fact that there wasn't a 2005 ZO6, now its a 2002 ZO6? LOL!!!!

Care to post a picture of your cars together with something letting me know its you? I'll do the same with my cars. I'll post a picture holding up a sign that has my screen name and today's date so there is no BS.

What do you say you take the troll test with me?

EDIT: Or you could just post your location... I would assume there would be someone on this board that would be close and wouldn't mind meeting up with you to validate that you're not full of crap.

The_Badass,
So how about it? You wouldn't need to give up where you live just by taking the picture. If you're really worried just make sure the car's plates are blurred out. I think you're full of **** and the fact that your avoiding my simple request pretty much proves you're a troll...

I challenge you to prove me wrong.

It's not even worth responding to him anymore. He hasn't even backed up his first comment about learning to drive better.

You can't respect anyone who doesn't have a insanely fast car? WTF, Who are you to judge someone by their ability to afford high end cars? The term whip is not a "hip" word it is a slang term usually used by inner city trash.

I have plenty of friends who come to the track and run 15s and 16s and it is a great time as long as they are having fun.

You put yourself on a pedestal and expect to be hailed like a horsepower hero. You sir need to keep you opinion to yourself as free speech stops the moment you enter this site. This is a privately owned forum and you act like its your insult playground.

Please do not come over to any of the Mustang boards either.

Wow, just.........wow. Based on the intelligence of these five quoted posts, I'm tempted to not come back to this website. And this is my first visit.

OP, nice race. Those S80s are VERY nice cars and I, too, think you would have been in trouble from a dig without drag radials. With them, it will probably be a really good race, but I'd still lean towards the S80 inching you out.

my other advice is to manually select the gear you should be in. <40mph = 1st, otherwise your car needs to downshift and you lose about a car to two cars within that time relative to a manual.
