Sucked up an RX-8 quickly getting on the freeway
There was a nice looking blue RX-8 getting on the freeway in front of me. Woman driver, by herself. I had 70 lbs. of crap in the trunk. She was taking a 25 mph turn at about 50 mph and almost losing it going around it. I stayed back at about 40 mph. When we got to the straight part of the freeway on ramp we both punch it (about 45 mph). I was about 10 cars back. I went through 2nd gear hit 3rd and wound it most of the way out. I sucked her up and let out about 4 cars behind her. She let off and switched lanes. I thought that thing would pull a little harder than that. Oh well.

Nice kill.I dont know why but those rx8s dont seem to be quite as fast as what the rx7s were?I know its powered by the same 1.3liter rotary engine, but they dont even get as good 1/4 mile times as what the rx7 got in mags.

However from all the articles I read (never drove one myself, even though sitting in one, I felt a desperate need to test it out) it is a great, great handler with perfect 50/50 distribution
The more I look at it, the more better it looks. If it came with a factory turbo with 320 hp and low 13 second quartermiles, it would be Da Sh*T

If they ditched the stupid rotary engine, and replaced it with a nice turbo 4 or V-6, or something with some torque, I'd be drooling.
The current rotary engine has been recalled for making less than the advertised horsepower, and the factory rating has been lowered.
I also question the duribility of a 1.3 liter engine making 230 HP, just seems like you are asking for trouble building something that high strung. My cousin had a twin turbo R-X7 and had all kinds of electrical problems with it, and a turbo went bad.

the new design has yet to prove its self as being reliable... time and emissions testing will tell... good kill btw... didn't mean to hijack the thread...

Any one ever seen the tv show tunner transformation on the speed channel they "transformed" one RX-8 by putting it on the bottle and it only made less then 200hp at the wheels! On the bottle! I feel out of my chair laughing
