Really. I am guess by your post that you have a good amount of knowledge on them or even have one. These cars can be made just as fast as your car for about the same amount of money. I went 13.8 on a hurt tranny with only exhaust and 15 psi. I will be in the low 13's with a new tranny and a few problems sorted out. i understand that a 4 banger with potential is a bit hard to handle for most V8 guys but we all have our faults. You can check out these site if you would like. The second one is the one that you will like most, cause I am sure mid 8's in a street legal and driven car is no problem for your "true sports car".

DSM's are fast...LT1's/LS1's are fast...I love both of them.

Read what he said again... he said they are far from a car that CANNOT be made fast. Poorly worded, I know, but he's saying they are not a car that cannot be made fast. Double-negative. IOW, they CAN be made fast

Antz, double-negatives suck.

I am so f**king tired of hearing about DSMs. I have owned 2 cars(18yrs) , a DSM and a F-Body. The F-Body is better all around. Fast DSMs will result in broken parts very very quickly, they don't look as nice, they have less top end, and every modded one I see is shrouded with gauges and coffee cans

All your point are subjective. You may feel that way but others may not. Thats like saying all F bodies get bad gas milage becasue they have a V8. Nice logic. I have a feeling you werent in the DSM for long. Any car that makes alot of power will break things no matter what. It is also in the way you drive. If you drive like a moron then yes things will break. Gauges are to monitor all the things going on in the car so why would you hate that. I have seen alot of F bodies with bull **** on them but I dont classify them as all being the same.

Whatever, my life goal isn't 1/4 miles times like a lot of people here, and I guess that's my fault for being on here. But I would never go back to those cars.

I also am lucky to have four interesting and cool in their own way cars.Any ls1 is for sure faster than a bone stock awd turbo dsm.
Especially the 2nd gen ones. But start increasing boost and the times do come down. And awd ones can crush near anything off a stoplight especially if the other car is on street tires. As for reliablitly I have heard the dsm can be bad and have only had mine a short while and have had to put some expensive parts into it.I have also bought a huge turbo for it and some other stuff and it may wind up breaking things.
I got a high perf clutch and guess have the best dsm rear end a 4 bolt equivalent to the chevy 12 bolt and a six bolt engine the stronger one..my car is a 92 talon awd.
I will say this.My talon is awesome in winter and in bad weather and sounds fantastic with the turbo spooling up and blow off and stuff. Its very cool and hardly a ricer car.Ricer cars are slow and have decals not hp.My talon may easily be my fastest car shortly and possbily permanently.Combine reasonably light weight around 3000 pounds mine is a stripper factory model and awd and turbo boost and you have a fast car if it holds together.

I do think the ls1 and lt1 and all v8 are quite reliable though and its pretty easy to get them up in power although for the ls1 its not cheap..heads and cams and headers and all that stuff is still up there but coming down in price a bit more now.And with bolt ons and good heads, cam and longtubes pretty easy to get a ls1 into 500 engine hp range now.And that is nothing to sneeze at either.

But we are hardly the king of the hill stock anymore. Was reading quite a few new cars coming out with over 300 hp and some awd new ones. And some lighter than our ls1s..So its time to put some more money into mods there guys.

I respect all fast cars..even if they are kinda ugly like 4 door sti subarus or neon srt 4s..Not that I would necessarily buy one but
still enjoy test driving them.
Take a fast dsm for a spin.I think you will become hooked on one like I did and they are much better winter drivers than our beloved ls1 or lt1 cars.

But remember one thing...if a turbo 4 is great and can whip your *** a turbo v8 or v10 or v12 can make hp numbers that you can only imagine in your wildest dreams..well over 1000 HP is quite easy with turboed v8s . And no four banger import can come close to that for power.

Just an observation here, why do people allways include their broken parts when they talk about there DSMs performance?

For instance. " my car ran a 14.00 bone stock with a bad intake elbo and a leaky left rear shock"
