Street racer's life

Does any1 here have a street racer's life? Like you race on the streets to make money? My Friends dad makes a living from street racing. I think that would be pretty cool.

Me and friends race people for money alot, but i dont think its possible to make a liveing off of racing... The biggest race my car ever has been in was a $1000 race. All that money was put together in a hat with like 10 different people though.

I rarely street race, I think its too risky. But, when I do its purely for bragging rights

The only people that I have ever heard of "making" a decent amount of money on street racing already have a lot of money, usually by other illegal means(i.e. selling drugs).

I have seen some of these cars that street race for 5,10, and 20k at a time. Most the cars trap over 200 through the quarter mile and are all out race cars. I would never try to make a living off street racing.

Almost all the cars racing for big money are basically Pro Stock cars with a license plate, they are trailered to the "event" and then trailered home.
Most of us little guys can,t bring enough to run for 20 grand, in cash or in horsepower.

well

I have been in the paper for it and a fellow member of this site got pulled over drag racing in a 45 mph zone but were lucky enough to get off with a warning.

I would not necessarily say that.

I mean then you have Nascar, NHRA, Cart, etc..

But I understand what you are trying to say.

Yea that's what I was getting at. Since this forum is 99% street racing anyway, a legal sanctioned event didn't even cross my mind

I try not to street race, the police don't seem to appreciate it too much and I don't really want to endanger some poor mom in a minivan or something by blowing past at 100 MPH. But I think few people can resist it when its 12 AM and a mustang pulls up next to you at a light. But for money, or organized stuff... nahhh not for me.

Why would you say that? I race for money. I also race for fun. To be honest having alittle money on makes it interesting and you know is a real race and knowbody will lift off early . I guess its not for everyone but unless you want to run 15 sec sentras and hondas all night for free ( which is a waste of gas ) Atleast here in NY you really have to put some money up to get a good race . People dont want to risk the tickets etc for free these days. If there was a local track open here at nights it would be packed solid. I watched a 4,800 race a few weeks ago. Those cars were way out of hand!! low 9`s high 8`s on the street. But those races are way to far apart to make a living off of it. Mostly races are from 50-500 bux
