Re: Street Kill (almost...)

(this thing is bad azz, complete engine redo, stage 3 supercharger upgrade, full 4" exhaust, chipped (both an engine chip and a tranny chip, its an auto), rims and im not shure what else, has to be pushing close to 500hp...Runs high twelves in the quater mile...

As a Lightning owner...let's clear some things up.

complete engine redo = what the heck does that mean (newer heads, intercooler, etc)
stage 3 supercharger upgrade = what the heck is that (ported Apten, KB, Whipple, Magnum..never heard of stage 3)
Full 4" exhaust = slower than before (stock is very good)
chipped = common mod but there is no such thing as a tranny chip ( you can tune firmer shifts or get a FTVB...most people would call that a shift kit)

Being how you ran him and were pretty much neck and neck...I bet it might run mid 13's...at best.

Be a bud to him...tell him to get a 90 mm maf, 4 lb lower, put the stock exhaust back on.

being a lightning owner, wtf...ha ok so you know all?
ill get the freakin time slips if i have to prove it, wtf??!!!
complete engine redo: i didnt interview him, he put like 8 grand into it, so i...dont...know!!!!
a 4" aftermarket exhaust is going to make him slower?!!!! oh please...
the chip, whatever, he did something with a programmer, sorry.
stage three is what he said, maybe he meant something else, idk, but he did get a new supercharger, i think the magnum http://www.magnumpowers.com/light_idx.html

why you have to be so critical? sorry ill do an full freakin interview to see EXACTLY what he has done, and i know he had 12's in the quarter mile, he did it at a local drag strip.

Re: Street Kill (almost...)

Believe what you want...but your delusional if you believe you can hang with something that runs high 12's....your car might run high 13's.

Speaking of high 12's in that Lightning and all those mods....why so slow?

I'm with cantonracer 100% on this one.

96' TransAm LT1,

1). Your car with just CAI & Catback for performance mods would net you mid 13's if your a good driver. High 13's if your not. Hire Evan Smith to drive your car and it would probably hit 13.1 give or take a tenth.

2). Any Lightning with 8K in mods should be deep 11's at bare minimum.

3). If his car was only high 12's for some reason then you still wouldn't be hanging with him in a mid 13 second car unless he can't drive and you can. Perhaps he was granny shifting or not double clutching like he should (sorry that was a bad joke, I know).

No offense intended here but if you hung with him it was because of bad driving on his part or he has some mechanical issues to resolve.

If you hung with him then his truck really isn't fast. Especially for a Lighting with 8K in mods. Imagine if you put $8,000 into your LT1 (heads, cam, all bolt-ons, suspension, N20, ect) and a stock Lightning hung with you. I bet you'd be a wee bit upset. I would.

It's not a matter of believing what we want. It's a matter of being realistic verses unrealistic.

Re: Street Kill (almost...)

Yeah...what do I know? I only live on the Lightning forums...only know what each mod does power wise...only know what they do from seeing many of the dyno...but heh, what do I know.

I do know this...while you believe you are hanging with a Lightning with $8K in mods...below is what $800 dollars can get a Lightning...on stock tires.

A timeslip of a $800 in mods Lightning

A video of a $800 in mods Lightning

OK...when it turns red we both take off slow, then he hits it (at about 20mph), i dont hit it right away, he surprised me that he would race in town, but then i hit it, we go to about 70mph, and he just barley pulls ahead of me (about a 1/4 a car length). I think if i would have hit it at the same time i could have taken him!!!!

ps. go to my cardomain site, and on the fourth page his truck is on there if you want to look at it. Its freakin fast. Im proud of my self, he runs like high 12's in the quarter, what you think im runnin? never been to the drag strip, so idk.

Puff puff pass - you're f'ing up the rotation man.

Nah dude - he's probably just pulling your leg. I've raced Cantons truck when I was mid 13's and he was mid - high 12's and let me tell you, nasty. It's not a pull and hold - it's one long pull all the way down the track. When I was running 12.7-12.8's and he 12.5-12.6 it was a 2 car jump and hold.

Re: Street Kill (almost...)

tenths of a second = carlengths
a full second = buslengths

i found this out when i raced a modded Z06 from a roll. I ran a best of 13.8 and the Zo6 was running 12.3's i believe. it was all in good fun though.
