Srt4 vs 1996 z28

One of the guys on my football team just bought a srt4 and he was saying he beats z28s all day long.I toled him he woulden't beat this z;I have a lt4 hot cam with full bolt ons A4.So after practice to day he asked me where it was, I toled him if he herd it he wouldent want to run.So as me (270lbs) and my other D-line budy (250lbs) are exiting the drive way I see the srt4 guy reciver (145lbs) exiting the other drive way.So I go right and tell my D-line buddy to watch this;the srt4 has 5 cars on me I see him hit it so I hit it and I pass him and get into his lane by the bottom of third on my A4;I let off thinking now he knows what a z28 can do but he keeps on the throttle and gets on my *** so I punch it and pull two cars in no time.At the stop light all he could say is "I was wating for you".Ill see what he says tomarrow. This kid thought he had a chance because I have an a4 .He must not know much about camaros.

Ya I knew he had no chance.Thats why I had my 250lb buddy ride with me.I thought the five cars would also make it a little closer but it wasent even close. When he says he beats z28's all day long he must be doing the old ricer fly by; because I don't think he would of had a chance even if I was stock. He thinks for the price he payed he has a fast car;he could have bought a lowmilage ls1 and moded it for less than he payed for that thing.

FWIW,i have seen a few SRT4's really get down.with all the bolt ons, larger fuel rail, bigger injectors, bigger turbo, tune etc. 12.2 seems to be the best i have seen thus far,no chance they can do this on the street though!
Great bang for the buck newer car.

It's a great bang for the buck engine. The car itself is a POS....my sister in law has one. Cheap, ugly, plastic rattle trap. It reminds me of the 03/04 Cobra....great engine/crap car.

I raced an Srt-4 back in the day, he was a 5spd w/ drag radials stock by himself. (Funny actually cuz he pulled over and let all his passengers out, while I didn't) I had my 93 formula cai,cutout,1.6rr's A4, 106k burnen oil w/ a buddy in shotgune.. From a stop I had to feather the **** out of it and didn't get to go WOT until around 10mph. (earlier I raced a stealth tt and just dusted the tires on the same area). So its about even at the launch since I'm feathering it. Then I finally go WOT and I pull a yard maby then we stay even until about 80mph.

W/ out his drag radials and me on a good surface were I could really launch it, I woulda pulled hard on him from a dig considering how hard it pulled once I went WOT but by then the LT1 was out of its torque range. If I got to use all 325ftlbs prolly would have been a lot different storyl.

Please dude!
The Cobra is not a crap car. Not even close. Dont drag it into the same conversation as a damn neon man.

I will bet you this...
Most of the experienced forum gurus around here would agree with me that the Cobra 03/04 was well built.
