friday night i went down to the track to try and improve my times from last times 85*+ weather. it was around the 60's and there weren't a lot of people considering it was FORD vs Chevy shootout. first run was against a 01 Gt(auto) w/ intake, exhaust, pulleys, timing adjuster, ported/polished TB, and some other useless mods. second was against a 01 Z28(6-speed) headers, lid, gears, borla cat-back, and some free mods. last run was against a 88' gt with built 307 heads/cam. times as follows:

overall it was a good night, cuz i got a new best with just LT's/intake/stall/cutout i cant wait to see what it does w/ some gears/suspension/ and a chip.

one last thing that i just need to know or need some insight. what do 98-99 cobra's stock run cuz i tried to run one last night on the street but he just down shifted and took off before i could even get going. i saw a van in front of him so i didnt even try because i thought he was going to hit the van. i really didnt want to put anyone in danger if i had decided to race him. im sort of down cuz i know that car is stock except for exhaust, i bet he's going to tell everyone he killed me

 

Nice times for the mods you have, if you put a gear in you should break into the 12's. I think those year cobras run the high 13's so you should be able to take him.

 

The breakdown as far as na cobras(not 03 or 04) go is 96-98 305 hp...and 99/01 320 hp...both are capable of mid 13's driven correctly and some have even hit lows stock..They trap anywhere from 103-106. Theres plenty of bad cobra drivers out there so dont get the wrong impression...as far as bolt ons go they'll hand an LT1 there ***....

 

found out this guy lives a few blocks away from me, and my older brother used to go to school with the guy. i really dont want to race him on the street, but im gonna try to get that guy to meet me at the track and settle this. i have never seen any cobras of that certain year at the track nor have i ever heard of track times. just to make sure i really cream the guy, im getting some gears, and some subframes on friday i'll try to get some video should i convince the guy to go to the track.

 

If you run the Cobra at the track (assuming he does not have gears and DR's) then you will probably win. If you run him from a roll you will more than likely lose, just as you would have done with the LS-1 because of the MPH difference.

 

i noticed that i always get everyone(LS1's) off the line bad then, i see headlights coming up fast. so, if i raced this guy at the track, id get him till a little past the 1/8th then expect him to start catching up. this coming week im getting some subframes, LCA's, and possibly 1.6rr's. im gonna try and dip into the 12's without the gears. next time i head out to the track im going to pull some weight off the car, get some skinnies, next weeks mods, and a chip. so i guess i will have my hands full this next month. oh, and i just might have a forged 355 project going by new years.
