We did a quick run last night, 1989 Honda CBR600. Weighs about 450lb and his year has 93 hp. He gave me the launch, but my ASR button is jacked up and the T/C is stuck on so I only rolled it out and watched on my 1-2 shift.
Suprisingly, whatever jump I had on him from the start was pretty much maintaned the whole race to about 110. He would pull a bit during my shifts, the most noticeable being the 1-2 or course, but considering I had a car on him at the start and probably 3/4 of a car at the end it was pretty even.
Supposedly these bikes will run the quarter in under 11 seconds according to this page, and keep in mind that this one has less power at only 85 hp.

Just goes to show you that given the difficulty of riders to get the most out of their bikes (and for good reason, it's pretty harrowing), pretty much anything is possible when it comes to racing sportys, at least when it comes to the older models.

Not to burst your bubble but bikes are extremely hard to drag race. A father and son here both have 2005 R1's and hit low 10's high high 9's at 145+. when they botch the launch and do a wheelie and not get all their weight in front, lifting the tires after shifts, they hit mid 12's. Granted its an older bike but its still a bike and w/out knowing how he drove it or the condition its in, it makes me question. Im not raising the BS flag and i dont know specific details about some bikes to sideline race but i can compare. If im wrong and he shifted perfectly and everything then good kill. Someone learn me.

Good run always cool to beat a rocket.

Oh yeah, believe me i know the variables involved in running a bike. if you read my last paragraph i admitted that his bike is more then capable of beating me, but bikes are a lot more prone to rider error then a car. this is his first bike, and hes had it for only 6 months, so im sure with some more time under his belt the outcome may be different. still, like they say anythings possible on the street.Originally Posted by IdahoLT1

Even that is pushing it for a 600 hurricane.
I was always under the impression that they were a low 12 second bike.
I always read that my bike runs low 11's, and my FZ750 weighs about the same, maybe 20 lbs heavier. And is 110 HP. It's suprisingly torquey for something that redlines at 11K, and has no problems spinning quite a bit past that ( Pointless, but it sure sounds neat)
