Thumbs up Ran a Mach1....

I was on my way home from work this morning not paying much attention to anything, when I look in my rear view mirror and see this bright blue/black car with a hood scoop right on my *ss. He was trying to get next to me and finally fought through traffic and did. That’s when I saw that it was a brand new Mach1 Mustang. Great looking car!! I gave the driver a thumbs up and smiled and he proceeded to jump on it trying to impress me. So I get on it and lay a little rubber and he gets all pissy acting like I shouldn’t have done that! Then he points at me and gives me a thumbs down and that gets me all fired up!! As luck would have it we come to a stop at a light side by side and I start revving my engine so he gets the idea (like he didn’t already know). Light goes green and we both hammer it at the same time. We are dead even till I hook up, and then I pull away by a full length though 1st and 2nd. After that it was dead even the rest of the way. When he let off I let off and I was just going into 5th so I know it was somewhere between a ¼ and a ½-mile we went. I slowed down (had planned on returning the thumbs down sign) and he turned off. Even though the guy was a jerk…I must say…. Ford is making a great looking car... and it runs pretty good to!

Hey everyone...sorry for the above post. After doing it I saw there was one already going on about Mach1's. I read that post all the way through, I am pretty sure that these cars are a mid to low 13 sec car. I have not had my car to the track yet...but I have ran guys that were running high 13's(13.70s -13.90's) and beaten them buy a car and a half to two cars. I ran a slighty modified 2001SS about a month ago and that person had ran a 12.92 and he beat me about the same as I beat the Mach1 above. So anyway sorry for the double post.

I can't believe he gave you a thumbs down. What a loser. Glad you showed him who's boss. (especially from a car that's close to 10 years older than his). He must have hated that.

Hey bro...no worries. Good story. Your prediction is right on with what they run. My buddy has an 02 GT that runs 14.1-14.3 @ 97 mph stock so I can see the mach1 going mid 13's. On that race of yours, was he spinning really bad on the launch cause my buddy's gt hooks up really well but then seems to loose it's bite around 60 mph or so. Ohh, his is an auto too!

I have another buddy who is a Ford mechanic (10 years experience) and he swears by the new DOHC motors in the Mustangs. He says the GTs are good for what they are (not DOHC) but they can't compare the the Mach1s and and Saleens and the cobras!
I am not a mustang lover but I do like the newer mustangs especially the cobras!

I am guessing he was spinning bad because I know I was at first and we stayed side by side. He was driving a stick..don't know the specs(4sp,5sp,6sd) But I am sure it was a manual.

MM&FF ran a 03 mach 1 manual to a 13.00 stock and hit 12's w/ dr's....the manuals run in the 13.7's-8's area...good runs

You mean the autos right. I haven't personally seen one run that fast though. I only seen 2 run before though. One i beleive was a 13.7 stock and the other was a 13.4 but i don't know what mods it had except for exhaust.

That's a big difference from the autos to the manuals.
But high 12s with DRs is pretty nice for stock.
