raced my friends 04 srt-4...

ok so i was playing cat and mouse with my friend home from my class..seemed like my car would pull pretty good compared to his..then we decide to go on the highway..didnt notice the speed.. i did the three honks.. he goes right on the 3rd honk then i floor it..takes a while to downshift with auto 273 lol.. he gets me about half a car..so this was yesterday..he wanted to go at it again so..now we catch a red light 2 lanes..this was my shot to shine ..so i stalled it up to 2100ish..rode it a little tirespin and stay about half a car on him till about 90-100 ish..then we scoot on the highway..i honked again..i delayed once again but not as bad..i pulled about a half a car again ..overall..they are pretty fast cars...cant wait till i get my gears and headers..how much of a diff will the headers and ory pipe make on my car?

What good are gears and headers? You will almost have a completely different car on your hands

For acceleration, yes. But for top speed and gas mileage those 2.73s rule.

^ Very true.. but then again, who is gonna be cruising along at 130+ on average
But ya, I would think that the headers and gears will hold you over for a while anyhow Look into used LS1 gears; they are plenty strong, and they have disk brakes, posi, and usually really GOOD gearing.

Re: raced my friends 04 srt-4...

Headers, CAI, and 3.42 or 3.73 gears are enough to knock off at least 5-6 tenths from the 1/4. Throw on a set or DRs and a 2800-3000 stall and there goes another 4 tenths or so. There are many guys on here running 13.0 to 13.2s with LT1s with these 5 mods on auto trannies.

The 6-speed guys need around a 4.10 gear with a strong clutch and hard launch (and a prayer for the poor 10-bolt) to get into the low 13s.

LS1 gears are the same as LT1 gears...2.73, 3.23 and 3.42. Both in the same rear ends as well my friend. Just have different brake set ups.

Idiot.. right.. Ya, I knew they were the same rearends, but I wasn't sure about the brake setup. All LT1 rears are disk right?

Yep, and they are decent rear ends until you add the slicks. Then

With 4.10's and lower elevation I'd hope to be in the 12's.
