Im stopped at a light in right lane and i see a srt4 make a right in front of me..

he goes to the left lane and waits for me so im like ok here we go..look around and dont see any cops..by the time i catch up to him,, im in 3rd gear,,i get next to him at about a 30 roll and grab 2nd....im pulling him,i havent raced in along time so im all fired up..lol...hit the limiter in 2nd..then miss 3rd gear....by that time he has 2 cars on me and im so pissed that i was just going to abort the whole thing but no i stay in it..grab 4th and start to reel him in but decided im not going to catch him before the next light so i just slow down.....

i pass him and he gets behind me at the light so i look around again no cops and very little traffic ..i leave a little hard and shift to 2nd waiting for him to get beside me, by this time im calmed down a little...we take off even from about 30 again this time i get a clean shift to 3rd and his nose is at my door...bang 4th and start pulling away...grab 5th to about 130 and have about 5 cars on him...we both slow down and he gives me thumbs up...

didnt have time to talk to him so i dont know what work was done to it....looked like aftermarket exhaust and had a loud blow off valve......stayed with me alot closer then i thought he would have......good race......by the way my car is 99 ss 6spd,cat back,lid and 4.10 gears......

 

thing must have been pretty fast. good kill/death

Those things make pretty good torque for what they are. Stock for stock with an LS1, it would prolly be a good 1/8 run, then the LS1 should start pulling away a little. Past 3rd gear, the srt kind of dies off. They still pull good, but not enough to hang with a LS1. Nothing a little more boost or bigger turbo couldn't fix...

I drove a brand new '04 just before I bought my Alty and it felt just as good as my LT1 did when it was stock running 13.6-.8s.

Good kill neat little cars those srt-4's are. they have inspired me to mod, Heads should be here next week!

 

performance car world right now has me confused....Too many fast production 4 cylinders...If it wasnt for the Cobra or the Vette we'd be **** outta luck

 

I have a buddy out here with one. He added a stage 1 kit to his srt4 about $800 total. He ran a 13.9 at 101mph the same night I ran a 13.6 in the vette with 352rwhp. They are not to be taken lightly. I thnk they would walk any stock fbody with that kit... Amazing...

 

He must have had a lot more than that done to the SRT-4. I raced a stage 1 SRT-4 in my car and it beat me by 1-3 cars. I run 14.0 at sea level.

To run a 13.9? Nope. I ran that stock. And I'm not the fastest stock SRT-4.

 

Yeah, but they ran at 5900 feet elevation! That is about a 21% horsepower loss to a n/a car. I don't know how much a turbo car would lose at that elevation.

 

You have 3 modded cars and no $$ for slicks? Priorities man.

him and his dad both drag race pretty decently, his dad has a ls1, its been in a magazine or two, and he has a turboed v6 that runs mid 12s...

actually I forgot I think he has a dodge shadow he plays with... maybe the slicks were for that..
