Raced an LS1 TA Last night

Some punk in a LS1 TA last night pulled up and asked if I had a LT1 in my car. He said they are a joke and its not a real F body unless it has an LS1. This is some little 17 year old kid with a stock 01 TA. So we go and race and I ended up taking him by 2 - 2 1/2 cars. I dont know if it was mostly driver error or what but I was suprised on how well my car ran. This has been the first race since the headers and tune were installed. Anyways, I was excited so thought I would share.

17 year old = inexperienced driver.

Plus, it looks like you have enough mods to keep up or beat stock LS1.

Well, I don't know too many 17 year olds who doesn't think they are great drivers.

You have some good mods but to pull a ls1 that much up top id say driver error played a good part...He sounds like the typical teenager w/ a car like that

I pulled him mostly in first and second after that he stayed with me but didn't pull any on me. I was impressed. Now I need to get a cam and some spray, LOL.

This is me beating a slightly modded 93 TA in my 97 z28

http://videos.camaroz28.com/video/C9...1C248096C8.htm

I've been complimented on my driving by plenty of older drivers, I don't really brag as much as other people my age but I still don't like people thinking I'm a crappy driver because of my age. Yes I am young, but I learned good shifting fairly quick, partially from my brother teaching me and watching him do it. I'm not trying to start anything, I just don't think I should be stereotyped because of my age.

Yea ... That does get kind of annoying.

Do you get starred at by every adult in sight too? I definatly do.

I have people all the time tell me "Keep it slow" or "Drive slow around here" when I am just passing through a neighborhood. And I really do drive it responsibly. I bought the car totaled, and rebuilt it myself. I dont want to do it again lol. Nor do I want to hurt anyone.

Ever have anyone give you **** about that though? Like if your already going slow, and the windows are down, they tell you keep it slow and ****? Sometimes I just want to ****ing nail it and lay two strips all the way down their street SO bad its unbeleivable. If my dad was driving my car, I know they wouldnt say a word. Because I am 19, and look younger, I get lectured by everyone else that thinks its a fast car. The typical response is Yea Uh huh, then I give it a few revs and keep driving.

Once I was going 5mph under the speed limit in a parking lot in my V6 and some ******* jumped in front of my car and started cussing me out telling me to slow down and then tried to come over to my window like he wanted to fight and then I really did speed off, i didn't want to get in a fight because this was a couple months before I left before basic training when i was in the delayed entry program. But now people usually leave me alone when they see the Base Sticker on my car

Will it ever end. That's the type of LS1 owners I like racing, Of course then again, the best I beat only had lid, headers, and cat-back. And it was close, Lol. BTW: pretty sure you would have beat a "Experienced" driver too.

I guess you don't understand the meaning of what "inexperienced" is. It is a factual statement, not stereotyping.

At 17, you have been driving less than two years, The average means of driving experience of the population is considerably more than that, therefore, you would fall into "inexperienced" group.

Now, if I said ALL 17 year olds can't drive or are bad drivers, then yes, I would be stereotyping, but I didn't say that.

A friend of mine just got a M6 00 T/A and hopefully I will have a chance to race him this weekend. I think a M6 vs M6 would be a good race. He's one hell of a driver also, but I'm not too bad myself.

Re: Raced an LS1 TA Last night

Hah doesnt suprise me about the guy jumpinmg in front of you. For christ sake, the last time I heard something from someone, my MOM was riding in the car with me. She wanted to go for a ride in it since I jsut got the car out of the garage after winter.

Smack job with his little kid was like "Keep it slow, Keep it slow". I wanted be like "O ok, Dont forget to **** yourself." ... I was literally IDLING in first gear around a cuddlesack. I guess he heard it coming up the hill though that it was loud and figured he would lecture me because having my mom in the car apparently wasnt enough. And even coming up the hill, I only hit like 2500RPM's. Stuff like that can be so irritating some times. Most of the time I get a laugh out of it and throw them a rev or something, but when your going 5 miles an hour idling around a cuddlesack, with some old lady in the car next to you, is there really a need for a lecture from a stranger lol ?

The louder it is, the more people will say things too lol.
