raced a caddy el dorado coupe w/32V northstar V8

my friend has a newer El Dorado coupe with the 32 valve northstar V8. rated at 300HP factory. both of our cars are stock, his an auto and mine a 5-speed. he was by himself and i had a buddy ridding with me.

lost twice from a dig. i had a terrible lauch and spun both times (bald 245's). he put about 5 cars on me and i started to catch up at 80 mph and by 100 i was pulling hard and would have caught him, but we shut down.

now for the good part. our last race was from a 20 mph roll. i started in 2nd gear and smoked his *** by about 5 cars. i shut down at 80 mph. the coupes weigh just shy of 3800 lbs.

Are those caddys front wheel drive ? If so then that is quite embarrassing for you and your car. No disrespect but ya gotta get that launch down. A street race is mostly won or lost in the first 100 feet or so. I have witnessed plenty of Really powerful cars loose to less powerful cars that were able to hook their launches! Ya gotta love seeing that.
And those caddies are no joke....

yes they are FWD. how is it embarrasing? they do weigh more but still have 40 more hp than me. i've been driving stick for a week and i'm running narrow, bald tires. i have trouble with spinning but shifting is quick.

btw this is with my mustang, not the camaro, which was not an LS1 but a V6. PI 4.6L = 260HP

don't sweat it... heavychevy really has no reason to post anything embarassing related since he has an enourmously heavy 3600lb car with a built stroker that is only able to muster low 12's along with a slew of excuses.

for the record those caddies do 0-60 in over 7 seconds so yea thats pretty embarassing since you car should do it in the high 5's. and the reason heavy asked if it was fwd is because fwd gets no traction when launched from a dig, so that should have been to your advantage too. but like you said you've only been driving stick for a week so you'll get a lot better

Yes it is since you really can't represent due to a fully built engine that goes low 12's in a 3600lb turd. The horsepower king you are not.

actually those caddy's have pulled sub 7second 0-60's and high 14 seecond quarters at mid to high 90mph range....so a bad launch and a stock LT1 would have been taken down. those northstars are nice motors and a guy whos had limited stick experience could easily be taken down on the street agains an eldorado...my .02 worth.
