Raced another 350Z.......

I just ran another one on the Southwest Frwy feeder. It was brutal. I almost felt bad for the guy. Man, those things are dogs. I know people keep chiming in to defend the things and talk about how quick they are.

I'm sorry, but from everything I've seen in person, any stock 350Z that's run anywhere in the 13's was a ringer from the factory for a car magazine. Either that, or Nissan has changed something in the build.

I have yet to see a 350Z on the street that was even remotely competitive. Yeah, I know I'm drivin' a 383 with a Joe O cam, heads and headers. But my car is still not dialed in (running rich), plus I know how I fare against Cobras, Lightnings, LT1s, LS1s and C5s.

Every time I run a 350Z, it disappears into the rearview faster than any of the cars I mention above, including stockish LT1s. It's basically like racing a Maxima. The 350Z looks great, but the more of them I bump into, the more I've come to think they are serious posers.

And that would be OK, except that the guys driving them seem to somehow be under the mistaken impression that they own a Lambo or Ferrari.

I know what you mean. I work with a guy that owns a 2005 350Z and he talks all the time about how beat this car, that car, and so on. Its funny just listening to him ramble on when I know hes full of it. But he hasnt run me in my camaro yet.
BTW, good kill.

Last week I destroyed one in my Lightning....I think my wife's V6 Mustang would have given the thing a run.

I'm amazed that no one has come in to destroy our hopes and dreams b/c that other thread was full of people that were 'bout that damn VQ engine.

Oops I hope I haven't angered 'them'.

Re: Raced another 350Z.......

If I weren't a proud member of that neanderthal club of American GM hot iron lovers, I might suggest an LSx drivetrain transplant into one of those Z's. That oughtta wake one of those Z's up.
I remember a post someone put up a couple of years back or so when they dropped in to a Nissan dealership. The guy said the salesman he talked to was just gushin' all over himself and blowin' all kindda smoke about how awesome the then new 350Z was. Well this particular board member happened to have a FI LS1 Z28 and asked the salesman to go for a ride with him in his Camaro. He intended to give the salesman a healthy dose of "shut up about those 350Z's". He said by the time they got back to the dealership after some "quite spirited" demonstrations of the Camaro's power the salesman had quit singing the 350Z's praises and was totally stunned with the power of the Camaro. All hail GM power!!!

That's what I mean. I've seen people on this forum saying 350Zs can run mid-13's, stock. No way. None I've seen, at least.

Based on my experience *with a bunch of them from various speeds*, I'd expect a new 350Z to be very happy to hang even with a bone stock ten year old LT1 fbody with about 150K on the odometer.

Woohoooo.............

P.S. How long before a 350Z owner show up talkin' trash?
