Pontiac vs Honda

Setting the Stage..

A few weeks back, I was over at my best friend Marty's (97ChameleonTA) house. And our boss's son comes over in his Honda Civic. The only mods this car has are a cut off exhaust, springs, and the plastic hubcaps removed. Well of course he is a racer now, and proceeds to inform me he can take my Pontiac with no problem.

after some good natured ribbing back and forth I finally give in and offer to run him when we leave.

The Race..

The road was a 2 lane road, and since we couldnt run side by side, I suggested that I got out in front and stop, and let him pull up behind me.. when I take off, if he can keep up, we will find a spot to run side by side, but if I walk away and he can't catch me, we call it a win, and let it go. He agreed.

So onto the highway we go.. I am stopped and watching him in the rearview.. he nods his head, and I hit it.. the big ole Pontiac shudders with raw power and it churns it's way through the automatic tranny.. the Poncho jumps out early and hard, and by second I was 5 cars out on the Civic.. he was shifting like a madman but it wasnt helping him much.. by the third gear shift, I had him by 15 cars easy and gaining. I shut down at 75. We waved and I went home..

moral to the story? If you own a honda with only springs, and cut off exhaust.. don't talk smack to a Pontiac.. ANY Pontiac.

oh.. I was driving my 02 GRAND AM!! a heavy 4 door grand am daily driver.. and it still wasnt a race

LOL

When the light turned green this guy gunned it and it looked like he wasnt even moving he went straight and I was turning . He wasnt worth my gas , even if I was going striaght I wouldnt have raced him. I coulda hammered , used skip shift and still beat this fool ....
