I've seen a few stock '99+ GTs running mid 14's at my track, most likely autos. It could happen, although MustangEater82's car is definately a freak. You ever think a lot of these flame wars could be avoided if you refrained with the petty comments at the end?

My SRT-4 absolutely smacks the Spec V down, as well as the Mazdaspeed Protoge, the Japanese counterparts to my car.

Umm you said that 99+ gts run mid to high 13's ...however... your modified 2000 Mustang GT
5-speed, K&N, !silencer, pulleys, synthetic oils. hasn't even broken into 13's Best run at sea level, 14.0 @ 101
I'm not trying to flame you or anything, just trying to see where you are coming from with a statement like that

Big Red Jim, how do u like your srt-4?(compared to other cars youve had) how does it handle? was the price good for what you got? my buddy is looking into a smaller compact b/c he got rid of his SS

I love it. It's the best all-around performer I've owned to date. It handles exceptionally well, I plan on running it in SCCA Solo II next year. Magazine racers will tell you that it out-slalom'd the Mini Cooper S. That has to count for something.

For me it's the perfect daily driver. It's efficient, powerful when you step on it, and it corners and stops well (11" brakes).

I said they HAVE run mid to high 13s bone stock. I had major traction issues the day I ran that time. I have 225/50r16 rear tires. Some of the Stangs had 245/45R17 rear tires from the factory. I could not get a good 60' time to save my life and I burned them hard going into 2nd gear every time. Bad track prep, cold day, and not the greatest driver . All my mods add up to only 10-15 rwhp.

There was an M-6 LT-1 at MustangEater82's track in the drag racing section reporting that he could not break into the 14's and his mph was low as well. If he had raced him it would have been the v-6 with free mods beating the LT-1
This was only a few weeks back.

alright, i can see that, traction problems can be a son a b****, once you get dr's, and get better at launching you should be doing great. what did you GT dyno at? some headers and catback exhuast should help out your #'s as well. good luck

scott9050 omg thats crazy! did he have traction prob's? was it a higher milage car?bad driver? could you link me this forum please?thanks

LMAO! Stock 99+ GTs running mid 13s? Comeon, thats as rare as a stock LT1 running low 13s. Funny how yours is modified and its not in the 13's. With a 60' of 2.24, bringing that down to a 2.0 would put you where? 13.8-.9? Something doesn't add. Maybe those ones were running Dr's or something.

I have seen them hit 13.6s at 101MPH-I can't count the ones I have seen hit 13.7-13.9s. So because Steve has not run a mid to high 13 that means his car is not capable of it??????????????????????
If a car can hit 98 MPH traps-its should/is capable to run 13s. If it can't-its the driver or conditions.

2 things for ya. First, forget his et....101 mph is plenty to hit mid/high 13's. 2nd, rule of thumb is to knock off .2 seconds of et for every .1 second reduction in 60 foot. So with a 2.0 instead of a 2.24 he's looking at 13.6 or so. Steve just needs to learn how to drive

yep that is the thread...

As for the stangs... from my expereince at the track... on average they run high 13s-low 14s stock and with a bad driver mid 14s, occasional high 14s...

Jsut what I have seen...

I was really close to getting an '03 GT but I stuck with the f-body... too much of a better deal on a car, just not as fast or nearly sounds as good
