new gt
new gt
was going down highway 249 northbound when i spot a new dark blue gt with 3 teenagers in it cruising in front of me, catch up and play around a lil to get their attention, got it quick too. we both roll our windows down and he suggests we turn around and run on the feeder going southbound from a light. we were heading towards the next exit then and both punch it for the hell of it and i was ahead by 1-2 cars by about 95ish, kinda shocked. so we turn around and get to the next light, turns green and we punch it, dude by about 50 i was a few cars ahead with a confused grin on my face. we get to the next light and he asked if i was stock, said no intake and exhaust as this took place a few weeks ago and did not have my elbow and foil put in, and he then commented he was stock. i was surprised though, thought the new gt's were finally up to par.
It might be the part that starts with "FYI", like your schooling him on the ways of the world, and ends with you telling him what should have happened based on ____?____.
That is typical mag racing at it's best.
stock with 3 people...figure 300lbs easy which is equivalent to 20-30hp disadvantage.
the LT1 is lightly modded and has higher than stock gears....
what's so surprising??
nice race...bet the kid was pissed

FYI was referring to his "GT's finally up to par" comment. The 99-04's basically ran door to door w/ LT1's. As far as what should have happen a A4 Lt1 certain needs more then a CAI and a muffler to beat a s197 GT. Yup mag racing at its best im sure my info has nothing to do w/ the 2 previous auto LT1's I owned. Sorry if i hit a sore spot.
I agree with Teke that the added weight and also teenager= inexperienced driver in most cases had alot to do with it.
OCZ, your mods in the sig are not going to give you much power if any really. The gears are probably the biggest thing that helps.
Technically the S197 should have drug you down the highway if it was a manual and an experienced driver.
This was not the case this time as OCZ did the dragging
Same instance when we outrun an LS1...
Technically the LS1 should win, but the variables start to enter the equasion.
Good kill.

Sore spot? Funny, your the one that seems to have raspberries for the LT1's. Just because you couldn't drive, mod or tune one properly doesn't mean that everyone else doesn't.
I doubt an S197 can keep up with my 10 year old, bolt-on LT1 even with identical mods.

FYI the new edge GT's ran door to door w/ LT1's...the s197's are a decent amount faster...btw good runs
