Need advice about a tsi race

Their is this kid at my work who owns a eagle talon tsi. For about a month or so he has been coming me and telling me that when he gets his new turbo put on his car that he would kill me in a stand still or at any roll speed. Well finnally after his stock turbo went to crap he bought a slightly better turbo then his stocker. Now the lowdown to what really got me fed up with his s h i t talken is that he finnaly got the car back from a speed shop that put in his turbo. He said that he raced his friend that who has a GTP that has its heads have been ported and polished along with a aftermarket supercharger underdrive pully, air intake and catback exhaust. He says it puts down 390 to the wheels. He raced his friend with the GTP and said that he let him take off first and by 3rd gear that he cought him and then pulled 3 cars off him.

Now the the reason why i dont belive him is that all the tsi has is a stock rebuilt motor with a slightly larger turbo and catback exhaust. He says he is pushing 15-18 psi. He says that i can pick the way we race and i think that i might race him from a roll in 2nd gear. What do u guys think would win and if i should wait till spring so i could put on DR. The car ran a 12.9 without dr

Thanks for the Help
Sean

Sounds like it would be a close race.
My first race back when my car was new in 01 was with a 90's Talon(modded). He smoked me, and that got me modding my car. Since then, im scared of those cars for some reason.
Go get him and report back.

I'd say if all he has is a freshened up motor and a slightly bigger turbo you'll eat him alive. Get him to put money on it. People with fast cars don't tend to run their mouth as much as he's doing.

I know the type well. For some reason they're magnetically attracted to me or something.

Does he have any exhaust mods? Wonder how big his "slightly larger" turbo is. You can run mid-low 12s with a stock-appearing 16g with the right supporting mods. Just slapping one onto an otherwise-stock car won't do it though.

I asked him if he would put money on the race and he said that he would put a stack on the race and that he would win. I dont have that kind of money to bet but i wish i did to just shut him up and have an extra g in my wallet. for the size turbo he has... iam not sure but its a little bit bigger then the one that comes stock on the car. The only thing that i know is that its used and it had to be rebuilt by a speed shop. He tryed to do it himself but screwed it up. The only mods that he has on the car is the rebuilt motor that he did about a year and half ago, the slightly larger turbo and cat-back exhaust. I might race him tomorrow and if i do i will post up the results as soon as possible. I hope i dont lose.

Be Careful !

Those cars can be extremely fast. There used to be one around the area that had an upgraded turbo pushing 19psi. No stickers, or anything to draw attention and he was running 11.40 - 11.60 pretty consistant in the 1/4 mile.

On the other hand I do agree that if he is blabbing all over the place then it may not be all that.

I still think he's bs-ing you. It's probably a case of guy picking on what he knows is a faster car, pretending to put a lot of money on the race, and then telling everyone "how scared you were of him" when you back down so he can make himself look better.

If you have any friends heavy into racing borrow some slicks or nitrous from them, just in case, and put money down on the race and make a few easy dollars. Don't try racing from a roll though. The old A4 doesn't do too well from a roll.

Put a nitrous kit on the credit card. Then pay it off next month with the winnings.
