Re: My first kill in the Z28

Im sure the guy with the 911TT had trouble sleeping all night because he wasnt driving a Eclipse GSX.

Perhaps he'll take his daughters GSX on Monday and drive it to work instead?

What I find funny is I bet the guy in the Boxster in this thread topic was minding his own business and some a-hole in another decides he wants to "see how he stacks up to that German thing."

Nobody ever starts one of these threads with, "yeah he was minding his own business and I kept trying to egg him on, and he finally gave in and said ok." Nobody is EVER the catalyst, they are ALWAYS the one being picked on or put down or given the eye roll. Come on. If you are looking for a race, youll always find one. Ive put more miles on my car than I care to admit over the years and never once has anybody pulled up next to me and "tried to start some biziness" with me. Perhaps its because Im not looking for any trouble.

Every time I read a thread however that starts with "Yeah I was just chillin and some dude in a [ENTER CAR HERE] pulled up next to me and started dissin my ride" I call bull**** in nearly every case. This is a TRACK kill forum. Take this ridiculous nonsense to the track if you want to compare ***** size.

I owned a WRX and in four years nobody in a Porsche or Ferrari ever pulled up next to me and tried to start something. I owned a POS Suzuki Samauri with more rust on it than the QEII and nobody did either. And nobody does it if Im in a Porsche. I attribute this to who's driving the car. The same people who always start these threads would find themselves in the same position if they drove a Zonda F. "Yeah the guy in the IROC was trying to dis me. I had to put him in his place."

You can throw all the money in the world at it and pound your chest in victory, but anyone who partakes in this trash is a small-minded reckless driver, and anyone whos constantly baited into it is weak-minded and either jealous or insecure. If you love your car and it loves you, you dont have to prove a thing to anyone. And if you make an effort to show people up or get arm-twisted into responding to like-minded nitwits, you dont deserve the car you have, no matter how fast it is. And neither do they.

In case you didnt notice, 95% of track kills is street racing.

I mean dont get me wrong, I think that ALOT of the street races that go down shouldnt have happened. But there are some instances where its not hurting anyone except the two people driving.

Relax before this turns into a flame war.

"I have never seen an Fbody on a race track"

Let's think about this for awhile shall we? Let's think back to the beginning. Say, 1967? What track are you going to? German auto only club days?

Were is that video, America vs Germany? I'm pretty sure that is what it was called. Where the guy in the Firebird was getting waved around all of the German sports cars.

I admit, some cars are better than the F body when it comes to banging around corners, but not many can bang around corners and fly down a straight line for as little as $25K new as these cars can.

What about the '02 SLP SS cars with all the suspension options? I would like to see how that "heavy" mid $30k new car would do against that $50k+ Boxster. I'm sure that would be quite the comparo. We could even use the same year cars, '02 vs '02. I'm talking 1/4 mile, two different road courses, Road America and Watkins Glen, (I would love to see the Boxster try to catch the SS on Road America's straights.), skid pad, slalom and top speed. I would put my money on the "heavy" cheap car.

Please, do a little research before opening your mouth on an F body site that has people on here that really do know about these cars. We even have the cars builders and designers on this site. Maybe they can give you a little insight on the SS I'm referring to.

Also, try our Autocross forum and ask around there. Maybe do a search or two. You may be surprised what our chest thumping cars can do.

When it comes down to others picking a race while minding your own business, it happens to me quite often and I hardly even drive my car. Just in the last week I drove my car once and had a Cayenne and a newer 330ci mess with me. The stupid BMW guy started it all with a fly by. I fought with him the entire way to work. In the end I won the fight, again and again. I'm sure that car would beat me around corners seeing how drag radials don't do to hot around corners, but he picked the fight in my domain, straight line.

The Cayenne I just ignored because it was in an unsafe situation with way to much traffic.

Maybe nobody wants to race your cars? Maybe because they are older cars that nobody knows or cares much about. (Kind of like you and the F bodies.) Maybe because alot of us are looking for the Ricers and Mustangs? That's who I pick fights with.

I will continue to stand up and pound my chest when my beloved, over modified,(Is there such a thing?), cheap *** car puts miles on a car that costs more than mine, driven by a person who has no clue what they are getting themselves into. I also traded my Z28 badges for the little one that just says Camaro. You would think these people would know what a V8 stalled to 2500 rpms sounds like. But they get the picture just as the BMW guy did.

Also in the BMW scenerio, I never had to go over 60mph when I was off the freeway (speed limit 50mph), nor did I go any faster than 20mph over the posted speed. The Cayenne was on the way home during rush hour and only a few open spots to race. Not safe in my book.
