my 99 T/A VS. 02 SS

One of my buddies have a 02 ss m6. It is completely stock except I believe he has a k/n filter. My T/A has the mods in sig. Which is just a few suspension things and wheels/tires. My engine is stock. Even has the paper filter still. My car is an m6 also. Well we werent planning on racing but things happen, lol. We started from a light and hit it at like 35-40 mph. HE hit it first because I didnt think he wanted to race. So he got a little jump but, i pulled up and we were side by side. When I hit third, we were still side by side, but my clutch started slipping . Then I let off. So basically we were exactly the same. It was fun but it sucks that my clutch is going out. I ordered a spec stage 2 clutch and new master/slave cylinder for an 02 (to fix the problems they had in like 98-00...i believe thats what was wrong with my clutch. i think i am also going to do the drill mod to add onto that).

It would be a close race...2 equal drivers id give the ss the nod...02's run real strong

I give the SS the nod since Camaro's are faster than Firebirds

Good race, I guess good kill on the clutch.

Now mod that bastard!

01 ~ 02 has LS6 intake and some would argue a better cam (flame suit on )
So, yes the 01 ~ 02s are thought to be a little bit quicker.
I don't care one way or another, but the argument does have some basis.

Sorta like LT1 guys will argue the 93 vs 94(+) question till the end of time.

LOL why are you saying its quicker when i just said we were side by side? its not quicker. its the same. the 01 02 has a less agressive cam than my 99. yea it does have the ls6 intake.....that makes up for the cam lost.

Re: my 99 T/A VS. 02 SS

well nittos dont really matter from a roll, and he has a hurst shifter(stock) so really the shifters arent that much different. yes i would probably say i might be a better driver...that is if you think that his car should pull, but we all know that not all ls1's are the same seeing how some run low 13s stock and others run mid to high. i think he is probably just as good of a driver as me so our cars might be pretty much the same in hp. my car has less miles than his to even though mine is a 99 maybe TRANS AMS are just better LOL!

Sticky tires can definitely help during a low-speed punch... spinning tires= lost ET.
