I dont have a camaro, but I still like to kill the stangs. Ive got a 1990 ford thunderbird super coupe, 3.8 supercharged. I took my car to the track last night, ran about 5 times. Best time was a 16.1 ( ) with a 2.7 60 foot. I was sliding everywhere. I was pretty bummed after that so I hit up the local speedway. Just driving around, then this 94-98 mustang GT pulls up next to me and says "Is that thing fast?". Normally, noone thinks my car is fast... This must have been because I had the track paint on my windows. I shrugged, and she says lets take it. I downshift to 2nd, punch it, chirp the tires a little, and pull away. A little up the road, she catches a red with a riced saturn. The far right lane (3 lane road) opens and I pull up next to them. Soon as the light hits green, boom. Im gone. I pulled ahead of all of them, and continued to pull ahead. The saturn was left behind like mad, and when I shut down I had about 1 - 1.5 cars on the GT. I was frickin happy as hell.

Those Gts are slow but it should have been enough to handle you... a buddy had the same car as you and it wasnt bad for what it was

 

Sounds like you just downshifted and took off without giving the other driver a chance to go at the same time that you did.

 

Actually she started to take off before I did. She did not downshift though. We were going about 35ish.
