Mustang GT

Well I was in the automatic 01 Z28, and came to a stop light with one of the new mustangs, it was a GT. I just couldn't resist, so at the stoplight we both punched it, he pulled me by half a car length, and then I shut down at the speed limit since there are lots of police on that stretch of road. He just kept on going to infinity and beyond.

Anyways, if my launch was better I probably would have been neck and neck with him, driver error.

I was under the impression that the new GT's still couldn't touch 4th gens. The race probably would have changed once we got past 30 miles an hour, since that is where the car really starts to pick up, but unfortunately I had to shut down.

What kind of times can a GT put out now? 0-60, and quarter mile wise?
I don't know, I've been beaten by Sabaru's and what not, and it was fine. But getting beaten by a Mustang really hurts ya know? Lol
Its time to start saving for some mods.

Driver mod .

Basically, the order of cars is LS1 > '05+ GT > LT1 > '04- GT.

BUT, on the street (or even at the track) it can really be a drivers' race between any of those cars. Sounds like you got beat by another DRIVER, probably not the CAR .

The new GT's are good for ~mid/high 13's on average, compared to mid/low 13's for LS1's, or high 13's / low 14's for LT1's.

I think the ls1 would of passed the gt if you diden't shutdown. I ran one of those back when my car just had exhaust and a tune and I won by two cars to 100. But I know I was a much better driver than the hot blond; 18-20 year old driver. I did this with a lt1, but befor that I lost a few runs aginst the new gt. On the road it is not always the fastest car that wins, a driver can really help or hert the cars abilities.

Aha! Never thought of that my friend. I must admit, it did have quite an audible rumble coming from the exhaust.

Anyways, I think I will just save for an Ariel Atom 2 now, so that no one can touch me on the road. It will give me that feeling of superiority that I always crave.

No excuses! Mustangs always sound good anyway ... you can't judge them by their "sound". I've spanked SEVERAL really nice "sounding" Mustangs!

If the OP has a 2.73-geared A4 and the Mustang was a 5-speed, I can see that happening.

Or driver error.

They run better than they get credit for.

I will be taking my wife's GT out next month in some nice, cool weather and knock off a chunk of time and add a few mph.

Yes, he did have a manual, and I did have the A4.

LS1 A4's can have either 2.73:1 or 3.23:1 gears. I'm guessing you have the taller gears, which puts you at a disadvantage at lower speeds. A 2005+ GT has 3.31:1 gears.

Just looked it up to confirm. That's for '05-06. 3.31 is standard on all '07s, with 3.55 an optional upgrade for both transmissions.

Jake,
So with the info you have uncovered it is saying that the manuals also come standard with the 3.31s ? wow!
My 04 Mach 1 had a 5 speed with 3.55s and that was the only gearset availible for the 5 speed car.
