Mustang Boss Vs. The Maro
Mustang Boss Vs. The Maro
I'm glad this place has a kills section... to bad theres so few stories in here.. barley noticed it. I don't street race anymore, so I wont post those stories here. This is a race I had at the track against this 70's boss looking mustang a while back.
I had just finished doing a quick tune up to my car, and decided to take her to the track to see how things were running. My car felt pretty good, and as usual that's the best time to head out to the track. When I get there to the staging lanes it was a familiar site... plenty of fast cars there to make you feel like your nothing special... which is why I came there. The way the track is here you never know who your goign to line up against...everything is so random... so that takes the fun out of knowing your opponent. I was just hoping that I wouldn't get staged up to a lame car like a Maxima or an accord...atleast I would have something fun to race that I didn't see on my dialy commute to school. As I was waiting in the staging lanes I decided to grab myself a hotdog. So I get a quick bite to eat, and then run back to my car. But I was stopped when a Blue mustang caught my eye. THe 70's boss mustangs and Mach-1's were always one of my favorite cars. Whe nI saw this car I smilled. I looked it over and saw a set of giant slicks on the back... hell of a compliment to the car. I walked past it and got in my ride. 10minutes later I'm up at the line. My heart started pounding hard...like it does before every race. I didn't even look over to see who I was up against. All I saw was a tree and the rack...untill the flagger moitioned us to light hte tires up... I skipped my wheels a few time... then a cloud of thick smoke emerged from the lane next to me. I looked over and there was the mustang lighting its wheels up. i was a little intimidated for the moment. Knowing that these old school muscle car guys drop anything under the sun under thier hoods. Who the hell knew what this guy really had. He lined up to the tree... double yellow for him... double yellow for me. Then Yellow Yellow Yellow Green. He smashes off the line and jumps a car length on me. I stomp the Z down and she does her thing. It was spectacular. MY Nittos only did a few spins ... then when they caught I jumped about 1 1/2 lengs on the guy. I was right up to his side door. It was fantastic. I mashed my pedal down and shifted to 2nd... I was right with him... I popped the clutch and jumped into 3rd... I started pulling on him hard... I just mashed the pedal down even hard and let the 4:10's run him down... hwn I was in 4th I noticed he was no longer in my view... I had no idea where he went... he just disappeared... As I got depper into 4th gear... I noticed my car wasn't goign past 5K RPm's She start stumbling and bouncing off of 5K. My pedal felt dead, and the car was giving it all it had... my top end dropped off completely at this point. I past the line and rolled to the ticket booth to get my time. I grapped the slip and rolled into the pit area to check my slip out. When I looked it over I realized they handed me the wrong time sheet for someone else car. I got out my car and looked to see if I could find the guy I just raced to see what my car ran. As I walked around the area... I caught him loading the Mustang onto a trailer. I introduced himself, and told him it was fun race. He told me that if he knew he was racing a Chevrolet he would have ran it harder... I smilled at him, and asked him did he know what time his car pulled. He just replied She's been sitting for a while... I have to get this thing tuned up. we started a convo and soon I forgot about the time slip situation. I shook his and and got in my car and left for the evening. It was a good race, and goes to show you never know what kinds of things these cars can do.
BTW I found out later what happend to my car... the opti was burnt out completley.
Cliffnotes: Z28 goes to race track and rides up against Boss clone Mustang with giant meats and awsome engine. End Result mustang loses...Camaro loses Opti.
