Most fun I've every had in a race

The other night I was out cruising around since the weather was so nice and I hopped there would be some muscle out on the local cruise strip. There wasn't as many muscle cars out as I had hopped for but there were a few. The rest were mustangs, f-bodys, rice, and imports. I made a few laps and decided I'd seen enough.

On my way out I saw a light creamish color Ford Torino that sounded very healthy. I caught up and kinda tailed him just to hear and smell his exhaust. He noticed me and kinda eyed me for little while and then he got on it for a sec and let off. I did it back at him.

The light up ahead turned yellow and we both slowed to catch the red. We came to a stop and I looked over at him, he was looking straight ahead. I figured he was hoping I'd give him a race so I reved it a bit to let him know I'd run him.

The light turned green and we both spun off the line and caught traction at around the same time. We were pretty much neck and neck untill about 65mph when I started pulling away, when his nose was at about the back of my door we shut it down.

I honestly don't remember how fast we were going, I'd guess we were doing about 85mph when we shut them down. This was the most fun I've ever had in a race, it was so close it was like a movie, I didn't want to look anywhere but where I was going.

When we came to the next red light he asked me what I had in my car. I told him it was mostly stock minus lt's, true duals and some suspension. It even ended nice, no hurt feelings, no flyby's, no nothing but a quick friendly conversation and we parted ways. All races should be so nice.

"if mustangs and fbodies aren't "muscle cars" what is?"

By muscle cars I mean older cars you don't usually see on the road every day. I wasn't looking for a race from one of them, I just like seeing and hearing them.

"You know lots of those classic musclecars are turds--- right?"

Yeah, stock they are, but around here if a classic muscle car is driving around the cruise strip it's usually shaking the ground it drives on. They aren't "turds" anymore.

Agreed...classics are muscle, today all we have sportscars IMO.
