modded GTI vs. LT1

raced a friends 2002 VW GTI 1.8 today from a 10mph roll in 1st...

he has a T03/T04 turbonetics turbo upgrade, with 9lbs of boost, nuespeed front mount intercooler, aeromotive fuel system, turbo-back exhaust, clutch, etc...
and decent weight reduction, no back seat, spare tire, jack rear carpet..

my car is a 96 TA LT1, M6 ONLY MOD is moroso cold air intake.

we went from a 10mph roll in first, i got a decent jump on him right off, and stayed ahead of him by quite a few car lengths unbtil 110mph.
i wouldve thought this car would beat me pretty bad especially from a roll,

my car completely stock went 14.2 @99, so thats not good for him and his 6000 dollars worth of mods.

i rode in the car after and it was quite dissapointing, another friend of mine had a 2003 eclipse 4cyl. with a 16g turbo/front mount, blah blah blah and the GTI didnt even feel as fast as that...

I guess they're not "built for drivers" after all.

Re: modded GTI vs. LT1

Im not sure what it is stock, but he oculd be lying. Who wants to admit that their new turbo set up with 15 lbs of boost or whatever got wasted by a near stock LT1? I rode in one with a stock turbo, manual boost controller cranking the boost as high as the computer would let it before it would flip out and make the car run like dick. stock intake, and a catback exhaust for it. It was kinda slow for something that was on 15+PSI I forget exactly what it was now ...

Edit right now young man!
No LT1 has EVER ran 14+ or above on this site or IN THIS WORLD!
LT1's run 11's stock at around 150....unless a LS1 is at the track........then they run just 12's stock.
Geez......get your stuff together man.

Thats good to know, I've been meaning to race my friends Jetta GLI which is currently at 19psi. I've just been hesitant because I don't want to lose to the car I talk so much crap about.
