me vs rx-7

a friend of mine just baught an rx-7 it is an 89 turbo. well this friend of mine used to own an integra gsr and thaught it was the fastets thing ever. well he totalled it and got htis car off someone who knew what they were doing "supposedly" anyways he know thinks this car is sooooo fast he thinks it will outrun his fathers zo6. the kid told him it ran 10 sec 1/4 but it has no suspension modifications to it so i don't believe it would ever hook up enough to run 14's but thats just me. anyways i was wondering if anyone knew anything about these cars and could tell me how fast they run stock and what it would take for them to run 10's and give me an idea of what im up against cause he wants to race me and i don't want to get too embarrassed. o ya he has no experience with a car that has power or rear wheel drive and doesn't have any idea how to launch it. i am ok my 60' is getting lower and lower the more i drive it.

I have a good friend witha similar story, wrecked his GS-R, got a Turbo II RX-7. We were with a big group that went to a local strip a couple years ago when we first got our cars. He was running consistanly low to mid 14s on back to back runs. When we iced his intercooler for about 10 mins he droped easily into the 13s trapping atabout 98-99mph. Basically, if the car is in good shape, and he gets used to it, its a serious car.

I ran one a while back when my car worked (haha). anyway i had CAI, Borla, MAF, and high flow cats. It was latest body style Rx-7, younger guy drivin it, i heard the turbo clearly.....so i am assuming since hes a younger guy (mid 20's) he had done something aftermarket to it.

Well the run went like this: by the end of 1st gear i pulled a car on him, at the time on the shift to 2nd (~50mph) his position didnt move much from there on, i stopped at ~120, and it was a car length and a half behind.

hope that helps in some way
