ME VS. Fox Body Mustang on slicks...

So I am at the track.. First break in the weather in about 2 weeks... got my car running right, im looking for some low to mid 12's or so on street tires... I am really excited i get in line and pair up with a fox body stang rolling on some slicks. We line up, i do a quick burn out to clean off the tires, he lights his up to heat them up. We stage... The light turns green and he gets about a car and a half jump on me. This had to of been one of my better launches! I start realin him in real hard and less than half way down the track my pedal hits the floor and my car hits 1k RPMs!!!! So I idle off the track and i think he hits high 12's or so. I get to the turn off and pop the hood and I think I have the worst luck, i have never seen anyone else do this, my throttle body cable broke?! So I idle it back into the gravel area while these civics just ran 17 second passes cruise pass me and i get out and my friends look at it and i am just screwed... Well I am thinkin I have to get it home so I tied it up around the kick back cable, hehe. And its holding really well... really really well... I was like I think I am going to try and make a pass like this!! I might not hit where i want but I bet I could hit a 12 something!! So then comes the rain and I couldnt even make another pass Then my friends are hitting like a second off their normal times and they are lookin at me like i am the bad luck seed Soo we get a burger and head home and on the way back these ricers where messing with me, they must of just knew my car was wounded and tryin to limp its way home and i didnt want the little loop i made to slip off so i didnt even want to race. But I couldnt take it anymore so i kept it at half throttle and beat a riced out cougar at least that was half painted and half primered
So i guess i have some work this weekend then next week i will post up some times.

Bad luck man, never heard of that happening. You must have pushed the pedal through the floor

I bet with some traction you'll be pulling low 12's no problem, probably high 11's. I hear you smoked a Maroon Z/28 from this "Dark Horse Racing" company in Akron that runs 12.3's

Let me know when the next time is your planning on racing, I'd like to get a good look at your car before I get Bret to make me a custom cam, and see where mine stands.

Good kill on the ricer though, I bet you would have smoked the Fox body too.

My throttle cable broke at the end where it connects to the TB...didn't snap but started to fray...hard to explain...would keep the throtle open till you tapped the peddle a couple times...

Sorry about your bad luck.

May I ask what mods you have on your car? It looks real nice on your website.

Best of luck.

On the front page, the car setup said "stock", so I didn't bother to go any farther.

Good luck to you.

Re: ME VS. Fox Body Mustang on slicks...

Once while driving to the track in my 94 T/A, I had the throttle stick open. Apparently there is a metal piece that keeps the throttle from opening all the way. Mine was bent, I do not know why though. When ever I punched the accelerator pedal hard to the floor and fast it would hang up. I was running my car againest a friends VHO 6.0 truck just testing out the car before going to the track. When he attempted to pass me I immediately stomped it. I reached about 110-120mph and decided to let off the pedal but it didn't come up. I f*@ckin freaked out. It took me about 2-3 seconds to gather my thoughts and kill the ignition. If that would have happened at the track, well put it like this, I would have most likely had a track named after me " in memory of ________."
