So anyways, I know someone that knows someone that has a '86 5.0 that supposedly smokes everyone they come across. She was tellin me how he always beats LS1s, LT1s, other 5.0s, 4.6 GTs, etc...The thing sounds nice, but it's weird because he has a carbureted engine in there (it used to be a 4 cyl). It's all primered with a slight drop, loudass exhaust and 4 cyl wheels. Anyways, first run we are on the highway, slow down to 50, I let him get a SLIGHT jump on me then go after him. I quickly passed him and by the time I hit 100mph I had about 2-3 cars on him, he is definitely faster than a stock 5.0. So we go to the gas station and talk, he say something about air bubles in his fuel system and that when it's runnin good it's a lot faster. So he does some stuff to it and he says its fixed. We go from about a 40 roll right off the onramp with him in front of me on our way back on the highway. He gets a huge jump, I reel him in by 100 and hit the brakes. I follow him to a backroad that a lot of people use to race on (nice and wide, well lit, no cars). We go from a stop pretty much, and from about 2mph-~105mph I pull about 7 cars on him His car was running fine too. I guess he just raced V6 f bodies in the past and thought they were V8s My car is a bone stock '94 Z28 A4 except for a trick flow intake elbow and k&n filter He was cool about it though, I can't wait to rub it in next time I talk to my friend

Nice kill....I was reading to see if it was a big bore supercharged stang that traps 130+.....but Jesus a stock 86 stang...I just dont understand some people

this is why f-body guys should never, ever assume that an old 5.0 is slow. EVER.

the worst beating i've ever been on the receiving end of was dished out by an 80ish 'stang with a worked 351, a well sorted chassis, et streets and closed exhaust. he ran an 11.0x to my 13.1x

lol, yesterday he said his fuel pump was broken or something during those races, so we set up another one for last night. he said he fixed it and was "a lot faster" than he was before. running strong. needless to say, after his pre-race talk about how he beat another LS1 that day, and has a reputation in the area for beating everyone because his car is so fast, we raced 4 more times and i smoked him all 4 times, but not as bad as before. he was pretty much in shock, and refused to believe that i have a stock LT1 he even raced 2 LS1s in the area that i have seen around and said he beat them both by a little ill just have to race them later on to find out how crappy of drivers they are

 

dammit, dammit, dammit. i'm moving back to the bay area early next month, but my car will be a couple of months behind me.

i'd love to see him beat me by a little.

 

Man..i was laughing when i read this post because we have the same thing in my town! There's this kid..who, yes.."smokes everone" in a 5.0..he has some loud exhaust, and revs his car up at every redlight, every stop sign, and leaves rubber every chance he can get...So all the girls, and all the nerds at my school think his car is so fast..telling me all this stuff he had on it..well my friend with his LT1 A4..only mod was a cutout..walked his *** like a blind puppy..and the kid had 100's of reasons why he lost..but yea..I think that no matter where you go, there's someone with a 5.0 who "smokes everyone"..
