Me v.s. Turbo'd CRX and Turbo'd Talon...

Last night was pretty crazy. Me and my friend with a blacked out '03 SVT Focus go to the main strip and cruise around for a little while. We find a spot at a shopping center where there were a few people hanging out and stop there. That lasted about 20 min before a couple of cops showed up and ran us off. We drove about a mile or two up the road and found another spot a little more secluded with prolly 50-60 cars hanging out. We hang out there, talk to some guys and after about an hour, head out to the main "spot" where we go to run. It's a side road way down town that runs prolly 3/4 of a mile long. I've been running there for several years but it's fairly new to alot of the younger import guys.

So we get there and the BS starts to fly. I wanted to run the Alty and there wasn't anything that looked major fast out, so i went ahead and made it known that I wanted a run. This guy comes up and asked if I wanted to run for 10 bucks (yea I know, woop d' doo). I asked what he had and he pointed over to a early '90s Talon that he said was turbo'd. Before I could answer he told me that he'd give me one car and let me leave first. So either he was really cocky or it was AWD and he knew what he was doing. I never turn down a run when someones offered to give me something, so I accepted. We go line up and I bring it up to about 1,8k or so meanwhile he's on the limiter waiting. I take off with some wheelspin but not too bad. As soon as I left he leaves, jumps, and almost instantaniously pulls up beside me door to door. He goes to shift second and I pull 1-2 cars in between his shift (yea, it was THAT bad). I maintained that lead through 3rd, when he then started slowly pulling up a little and when we shut down he was right at my rear door. I turn around and go collect my 10 bucks with a smile the size of Texas...

About 30 min later I saw a little primered CRX with a Turbo runnning another car. It looked pretty quick so I asked the guy if he wanted to run. Without hesitation he jumps in his car and flys down to the starting line. We ran this run for fun (no money). We line up door to door with a flagman. Hands drop, I get a slight jump on him but have major wheelspin. Once I hook and start pulling the whole way through. By the time we shut down I had about 3-4 cars on him.

If the Talon had had a driver he would have definately had me. And if we had run heads up it prolly would have been a massacre. But in my defense, A CHASE IS A RACE

I was very suprised that the CRX didn't start coming for me up top. I figured once he got moving he would be coming for me, but I guess not???

I don't know anything on the cars other than both had at least i/e, and I'm sure a slew of other bolt-ons. And of course both had turbos. Don't know any specs on those either, or what motor the CRX had.

It was a blast last night! I got home at 4am this morning and am now sitting here at work (had to be here at 9am). There were alot of other runs that were fun to watch and hopefully we can go out and do it all over again tonight....

dude thats awesome! I would have loved to see there faces when they got beat by a (quick) sedan. One of my friends is looking at a brand new maxima with the 6 speed, he said that it pretty much straight hauls *** for a sedan. Later on, the salesman took him for a ride in a 350Z, another salesman hopped in a maxima and was going to get gas, my friend said at a redlight the 2 guys raced..the 350Z which he was in, spun pretty bad, and the maxima jumped about a car and a half on the Z..he said they didnt pass the maxima until about 90-95 mph..The altimas, and maximas are definately pretty bad! Have fun tonight! i hope you get some more good stories for us!

Nice runs. My currentl daily driver is a 92 AWD turbo Talon. Fun car but I can't wait to get my Z back up and running.

Yeah ..I think I have seen more 11 second DSM's then I have 13 second Civics . They are everywhere . Obviously a great platform to build on . And the 2nd gens are great looking cars .

Ya, I just built a 91 AWD TSI Talon with an Evo B16g turbo for an everyday driver. I cant wait to see what it will do at the track, but from a light on the street, I think the AWD will overcome my 12 sec Camaro. I can say fun car but different from the Camaro. A fun addition but NEVER a replacement.

Ditto. With a $h!t-load of susp., a excellent clutch, ET drags, maybe a little weight reduct., and a outstanding driver, I could possibly see a 12.6-.7 with those 4.10s. BUT the mph definately seems way off. Ive never heard of a LT1 with CAI/Exhaust running almost 110 through the 1/4.

Either it's bs, or there's ____?_____ on the car that he's failing to mention....

Last weekend at the track in the lane in front of me was a 91 AWD talon I cant remember the turbo he was runing, but it was an 04 something, he said it like it was a little one. The car was gutted and he also had basicly a straight pipe all the way back for exhaust. Along with this he was running a 150 shot of nitrous. I wathced him run twice and his first run was an 11.22, his second I seen was a 10.99 @ 136 mph.
I wqs impressed.
