Mazda RX-7 Kit.......DONT RACE YOU WILL LOSE

OK last friday I was in a small town in Washington.......I was driving my van needless to say when I decided to stop and fill up with gas.....

About a couple minutes later an 82 or so RX-7 pulls in and has a big*** vented hood.....

I laughed until this thing drove by me to the other pump and that low rumble caught me off guard.....

Inside I ask him how he got his car sounding like that.....
(chevy power ) he replies.....

&*^$%&&^ What The f*** is that......

When I look under the hood of this car My eyes bulged.....

The car has no body mods to show......looking at it it looks like a normal car with a white paint job.....

Under the hood it lied though......383 stoker with a supercharger....This guy took probably the nicest cleanest 350 LT-1 and bores it out then charges it......

He said there is a kit on the market to drop a 350 v-8 and tranny in these cars......He said he is finishing up with his suspension but you will not be able to tell except he has a vented hood and that is all......

I want pics so I will try to find him again in time I will because I have seen him a few times.....

This I want to show it is quite unique.....

nice setups!

I never saw one actually run. But I did see one pull into a cruise spot earlier this year and I asked someone if they new about the dude's car. He said it had a blown LT-1 under the hood and ran 10s.

That is pretty awesome.

Wouldn't that much weight on the front end cause some driveablity/stability issues? I had an old RX-7 like that, and the front end is light as hell.

No it doesnt that is weird......the engine and tranny wieght is really more evenly distributed than on the camaro itself because of the shorter length of the car.......According to him it has really good grab as the rear tires are not spinning as much.....Light car with the tranny weight being more on the rear tires than in the middle.....I guess the vehicle is much shorter than the standard camaro...

Sounds pretty sweet.
A friend of mine swaped an old stock 5.0 into a 2nd gen RX-7 and it ran good into the 13's with the motor being all stock and a decent exaust.

Just wondering, why would you laugh at him if the car looked stock (exept the hood)?

My brother has done 2 SBC V8 swaps into 80s-vintage RX-7s. Both using fairly tame 305s- nothing to write home about- but they would still go low 14s/high 13s real easy. They weigh nothing and the V8 is a surprisingly good fit, except of course for the stock hood which just won't work (at least with a carb or anything sticking vertically out the top of the engine). One of the most interesting things is that the rear gears are typically very steep in these cars- 4.10s stock not being uncommon. Driving on the highway with a pushrod V8 at 3800 RPMs gets tiring real quick.

I have read a few articles on swapping LS1s into 93-96 RX7s and you can swap a T56 tranny in it too. So 4:10s + 6speed = not bad highway rpms.

I laughed at the hood but the sound was an earful.......I myself have never seen this done to an RX-7you know an actual 350 bored out sliding in and the thing had nice room to work on.......I think he is really going overboard because he had some of the mods already in yet outside it looked like nothing out of the ordinary except the hood......

It reminds me of my younger years when I seen a guy driving around a 350 chevette.....Know what I mean

Where can you find this kit to drop a V8/tranny in an RX7. Kinda sounds tempting down the road.

Hey what can i say our engines are great.I saw a video of an old datsun 240z with an lt1 and laughing gas. That car weighs like 15 pounds, you can imagine how bad the traction was.
