Truest statement this month! For every stock 12 second LS1 I hear about on the internet I see all of them do low to mid 13s AT BEST. The stock 12 second LS1 is rare as he**!

 

i've been at the 1/8 mile 3 times only at irwindale,ca and in those 3 times i haven't seen the first stock lt1 to break into the 8's. the fastest one i saw did 9.10
i did 8.8 and i'm a bad driver so go figures. .

i would be at carlsbad,ca 03/28/2004.

this would be my 2nd time at the 1/4 mile track. i ran 13.7@102 the first time. i know 2 guys with mach1's also that ran 13.2@106 the same day, and they would be there also.

i'll shoot for 13.2 with a catback only, stock tires.(installing slp loudmouth next week )

i think it would be really good to have some ls1/lt1 running against us that day. what do you guys think??? friendly races, ls1/lt1/gto/mach1 running side by side.

high 13's 5 speed mach 1's are been driven by people learning how to drive stick shift. trust me when i said this car is very capable of 13.2 -13.3 stock form. if you live close to carlsbad,ca come and see it for yourself.

 

from what Ive read, carlsbad is a pretty fast track. read of some minimal mod (catback, lid) LS1's trapping 112 ish there. Those same 106 trap speeds there is probably like low 104's here at Sacramento Raceway or like 99-100 at Sears Point/Infineon Raceway (both at sea level too ). Every track can be different.

 

I tell you what I think is really funny.

Guys come on here and let every one know that at their track a Mach goes 13.90s at best. Well sea level plays a huge roll in this along with driver error, track conditions and weather conditions.

I saw two people last month who owned Machs go to our local track. Its an 1/8th mile track thats garbage without slicks.
They both show up in their yellow & red Machs and proceed to race each other on street tires. First off they could not drive the machines they purchased worth a crap. They averaged 9.85 @ 80 mph and the best time took on down to 9.06 @ 83 mph.
Now I know some people would immediately jump on the board....especially if they didnt like Mustangs and tell all of their buds that Machs are slow and run high 9s or some high end number. The truth of the matter is that on a great conditioned day with a good track and drag radials I have personally been to the track with a Mach that was driven by my friend to a 8.37 @ 84 mph.Which in the 1/4 would be a 12 second run and his only mods are Drag radials!!!!! Lets remind our selves that its not the machines fault if your sorry *** cant drive it to its potential.

Why is that? They are all near sea level, right? The only differences could be temperature, barometer, wind, and humidity??

i don't know, if it is a really fast track or not. but i heard from the camaro/mustang guys the day i was there, traction sucks big time at carlsbad, even with et's

Well I think it was a shaker hood because I have seen plenty of 00-02 Gts around and this hood looked different to me. Also I stated from my first post that it was dark green because that it was it looked like but at night dark green and black look very similar when there is no light around. When I was following the guy on the street I couldn't get close enough to tell for sure because there was a vehicle between us. On the hwy I never noticed the badge because I was too busy looking at his license plate that said MACH LT. I really don't see why you guys have such a hard time believing this Its not like I said I just wasted him from a roll or anything stupid like that. I just think you guys get too caught up in some good timeslips that are posted on the internet or in a magazine and then think that EVERY driver out there will do the exact same in different situations.

No offense taken I'm positive because of the license plate that said MACH LT and the rather different from a GT hood. Like I said, dark green and black and be mistaken at night especially when your going 70mph - 125mph.

 

Yea it must have been because there is no way a LT1 could be the mighty mach 1 5 speed. It was probably running on 7 cylinders too right ?

 

Both sea level, same temp, baro and humidity, no wind. I dont know why, the track has been slow ever since they renovated it, its just the way it is....

 

I do not have a hard time believing it, I just believe that you ran an A-4 one which would be just as described. You should have flagged him down and talked for a few minutes so you could have made sure of what he had.

 

Maybe the track is slightly uphill? There has to be some reason why it is slower.

 

No, because with just exaust and you bragging how your car has an exaust leak and is not running to it's full potential with those mods, an A-4 is more likely what you ran. Look, you have no clue what you ran other than a license plate and a hood that you *think* is a Mach I shaker. Don't get pissed as the rest of us speculating what you ran, especially when you keep flip-flopping about what you saw. Fact of the matter is that you may or may not have driven against a Mach I, and you sure as hell have no way of knowing what tranny was in it. Until you get the sense to pull over the driver and talk next time, don't get pissed off at us when you are assuming that what you ran is the best and fastest of a particular model without knowing for sure.
