Mach 1 tries.

I was out driving around last nite and I noticed a dark green mustang go by on the street with one of those "shaker" hoods so I followed him and he headed for the hwy. I pulled up beside him going 70mph and tried getting him to go but he wouldn't so I speeded ahead to about 80mph then he caught back up with me. I put it in 3rd gear and hammered on it, he hit the gas first so he got about 1/4 of a car on me but I ran to the end of 4th gear 6000rpm and i was about 3/4 of a car ahead!

I can't wait to get my passenger side header leak fixed and my 2 y-pipe gaskets changed with some new 02 sensors! Mach 1s, here I come

Oh btw his plate said MACH LT so I'm assuming its a Mach 1.

If that car was dark green you might have ran a Bullitt.

FYI....Mach's have never been available in green. It is likely you ran a Bullitt or a GT (there was a green color in 2003 and earlier models). The GT's hood doesn't look that much different than the shaker hood - especially at night.

BTW...not saying you could or could not race and beat a Mach 1....just stating that there is a good chance what you raced this time was likely not a Mach 1.

Yeah it probably was a GT or a Bullitt. A Mach 1 should beat you with your limited mods and problems.

Nah I'm 100% positive that it was a Mach 1. It might not have been green, I did race him at night and any chance that I could see his car under a street light while we were driving he was too far ahead to really tell. It could have been blue or black for all I know. But if it was a bullitt or a GT why would he have MACH LT for a license plate? Besides, his car was a hellovalot faster at those speeds than a couple 02 Gts that I've raced. I did pull on him, but not much from 80mph to 125~mph.

Key word here is should. Anything can happen on the street. Maybe he wasn't a good driver? Maybe something was wrong with his car? Maybe he didn't shift as high as he should? I do have a couple more mods too. I got a pulley on the crank, PCM tuning because my car came from factory with a speed limiter (no Z rated tires). Considering that stock Mach 1s are putting down 275rwhp STOCK, and LT1s with just LT headers and K&N filters are putting down around 290-300rwhp I don't see any reason that I couldn't beat one from a roll. From a 80mph roll, weight isn't that much of a factor, but the amount of power you have. From a stop though I'm sure it would have been different.

i agree with you. it should, but it didn't happen because it wasn't a mach 1 i'm kidding.

Anything can happen on the street, true, but i'm surprised since you said you actually saw the shaker, how do you know it was a shaker??, according to you, it was dark at night, so even though you said it was dark green, it's so easy to tell when you have a gt or a mach 1 in front of you because of the rear badge. you followed the guy but didn't see the bagde?? also, if you thougt it was black, how come you didn't say it from the beginning.

if i'm not sure about the color of a car in the night, i would see it black, because it's to dark to realize if it's dark blue, drak green or dark gray, but still you clearly stated it was "dark green", so you really saw the color, didn't you???

nice gt or bullit kill . kidding again.

I don't see why it couldn't be a Mach 1, other than the color thing. I beat several at the track back when my car was stock-motored like this guy's, except I had shorties and a stock tune.

For every stock Mach 1 running low 13's at 106+ I hear about on the internet I've seen 2 or 3 5-speeds that run high 13's at 101-103 in real life. A low 13 second stock Mach 1 is like a high 12 second stock LS1. They're out there but not too common.

Ok, and again, I'm not saying you could or could not beat one.

BTW....and take no offense....but how can you state the color (with no reservations) and "assume" it was a Mach 1 in your first post, and then not be sure of the color and be 100% positive it was a Mach 1 in your second post?

No big deal...just more food for thought.

Very well put Moore94Z, I see the same thing around my parts but I rarely get into these debates with these stang guys because you just can't seem to win
