Lt1 z28 vs Audi

Coming onto the freeway onramp, I found myself behind a silver Audi S4. The dude noticed me behind him and began hitting it as we merged into traffic. I hit hit it from 3rd gear and i go around him on the right hand side and keep the hammer down to about 130kph to find out if he wanted to play.

We line it up at around 100kph and in 4th gear i pull a length on him... shift into 5th and my gain stops... we hit a bend and i have to back off and he is now ahead. The road straightens out and I pull out to another lane to attempt a pass but just didnt have the power to do so and wind out 2 lengths behind. Time for some more mods...

You started in the wrong gear at 100 kph, it would have been much different had you started in 3rd. (from 100 kph up to about 160 kph you should have been in 3rd) You were down 30% on acceleration for that whole time.

Next time, you'll kill him if you choose the right gear. I made that mistake too many times before I realized that what gear you choose will make or break your race, especially against a car with decent power. You get so used to not even having to downshift when racing a lot of cars, that you forget to downshift to the best gear when you really need to.

I was a bit worried about shifting down into 3rd in case (didnt want to over-rev it) Thanks for the advice... I guess I need to learn more about my car in terms of shift points etc.

The funniest part about this encounter was that I thought it was just an A4 1.8T or a 2.8 at first until I noticed the S4 badge on the back. I would have been pretty disappointed if that were the case
