LT1 walks LT1

I raced a black formula LT1 on 75 tonight. I think it had atleast a catback but I'm not sure. As far as the races, they weren't pretty, I walked him pretty damn hard. I felt kinda bad beating up on a fellow LT1 owner like that. Its good to see that my mods are paying off though.

Is descreening safe and did it make an improvment?

I gained 3rwhp on the dyno, staying strapped down descreening my MAF. I don't see why it wouldn't be safe as long as you have an air filter on it.

They were ported when I bought the car, but I didn't know it. They are different castings than the 97's so I'm guessin its a core exchange but I really dont know. They are ported to the size of the gasket openings perfectly, so its definatly a full port job, I just have no idea on the flow #'s. The dyno #'s are with a bad coil and running rich, but I probably won't have any money to dyno it again for awhile. When it cools off later this year I'll head back to the track though.

That screen is in there for a reason and that is to smooth out the airflow so that the sensor gets a correct reading... Hm... could this maybe be why your heads/cam car is making sub par power??? Just my .02. Good kill, once you cam our LT1's you gain serious topend and own fellow noncammed LT1's.

Its an age old debate, I think you are rolling the dice when you do it... But do what you will, its your car

Re: LT1 walks LT1

You're pretty safe removing the screen, its porting the MAF that causes all the problems.

I think it causes a lean condition that gives you more power.
