It is a damn good thing a dyno doesn't go down the racetrack.

That is all.

Re: LT1 vs MACH1 Stock for Stock

Actually Mustang dynos can give you 1/4's & MPH's...but I am sure you knew that.

Give a few years...bone stock LT1's will be pushing almost 300 rwhp....what, your LT1 ran a 14.0@99 bone stock, man, you got a lemon...

Re: LT1 vs MACH1 Stock for Stock

I had to post up when reading all this bull****..... Okay with all boltons no headers my t/a put down 291 321torque, now im guessing I have 97 ws6 holley 52mm tb at the time borla catback hpp 160 stat and march pullies. it put down those numbers. So im guessing 265 270 range just stock.... now with the headers and lt1 edit it put down 312 338torque, of course with 342s
and missing opti. Now I CHANGED TO 410s dynoed with same missing opti, it dynoed 300 328torque, wierd changed gears well thats another story. Bottom line is yes lt1 m6s dyno 260 270 range, the lowest a4 I have seen dyno 245 252 at wheels, and that was a good tuned running auto..... thanks

Re: LT1 vs MACH1 Stock for Stock

Not trying to sling any BS or take sides I ran a Mach 1 at the track back in august and just edged him by a fender. My car has mods listed, and I'm pretty sure his was stock because it had a dealer tag. So, I gotta say if mine wasn't slightly modded he would have taken me so I know what the machs will do they're pretty quick. Just my 2 cents.

Re: LT1 vs MACH1 Stock for Stock

you guys are messed up on the ratings
you got them right (275/285) but think about it, the vette had the same exact engine and was rated at 300 or more (can't recall exactly)
the camaro ratings aren't worth sh** because they don't give you the full info (or any ratings for that matter)
either way, the mach would win, but just saying, don't start saying lt1 z28/ta's/formulas can't get 260rwhp stock

Re: LT1 vs MACH1 Stock for Stock

How about instead of quoting numbers, show some actual dyno runs from a bone stock LT1?

or, how about some 1/4 mile times for a stock LT1 and a stock Mach 1 (timeslips, plz)? none-the-less, i'm betting that the mach is faster given equal drivers at the same DA.

Re: LT1 vs MACH1 Stock for Stock

The Mach 1 SHOULD be faster, but i can hold my hand on the bible and say that i've seen them run numerous high 13's low 14's, and mid 14's at the track. Not every person can jump in their car and run it to it's absolute best. Kind of like when an LS1 owner claims they have a 12 sec car stock.

Can a stock LT1 beat a stock Mach 1..... absolutely, but should it? NO

LT1 1/4 mile times arent in question, I hope were all aware a strong dyno doesnt mean a great time...everyones throwing around dyno numbers because someone gave inaccurate dyno info

The dyno shop I work at part time(which means maybe I might know what I am talking about being I actually work at a dyno shop) has had a number of Mach 1's dyno...lowest was 285 rwhp...one was 290 rwhp.
All of the above is pure BS!!!!!!!!! Stock LT1s have done 265+ rwhp. I've never seen a stock Mach put out more than 270 rwhp. Let's see some bone stock Machs put out 290 rwhp. Never happen.

Even the Mustang guy agrees.

I guess everyone is under the conception that more power = faster car? An LT1 and a Mach can dyno the same #s and I'll vote for the Mach winning because of less weight and better gearing. After all, I know a SRT4 doesn't make 250 at the wheels, and they pull LT1 times just fine.

Re: LT1 vs MACH1 Stock for Stock

Ok horsepower dont mean anything.. on dyno, If lets say well this is fact a 3300 pound mach 1 with all bolt ons and 4/10s the guy dynoed 290 hp he runs 7.9s all day in the 8th... fact.. he has weight reduction of course .. now a lt1 weighs about 3600 right and he dynoes 250 and lets say the mustang gt 2001 2002 dynoes about the same, the gt mustang should be faster because of the weight and gearing... but its not... lets say the gt mustang gets bolt ons and the lt1 gets boltons, and the lt1 dynoes 290 310 and the gt dynoes 270 and weighs less the gt will win well suppose to win.... dynoes dont mean nothing I found that out when I raced that mach1 with almost 500 pounds lighter than my car, but wait I have 25 more horses than him I say its all up to the driver..... lt1 should get it down low and top end.....

But there is diffrences theres gearing which makes the mustang mach1 a well balanced car, very good midrange power, on the other hand the lt1 has good low end and and better top end, thats why I think if the cars are driven right it would be close.......

Re: LT1 vs MACH1 Stock for Stock

Well... my friend dynoed 280rwhp stock on his 94 GT... 310 and 350 with Jet Hot LTs, no cats, and a LM.

He has the chart and I seen it... whether you believe it or not, ok.

2nd, like someone said earlier who put it nicely... a poorly driven Mach 1 will lose to an awesome driven LT1.

3rd, Corvette LT1's were rated at 305/315/325 I believe? I think 305.

My car is rated at 305 335... WS6 models are rated higher because of the dual cats/ram air.

4th... Trans Ams look nicer

5th Mach 1's are cool... L0L

Someone dynoed 250rwhp on a Mustang Dyno at my school with just an exhaust/intake. That machine is such a piece of crap... anyone who says Mustang dynos are good needs to be beaten with a sledge hammer.
