LT1 vs. 03 Cobra.
LT1 vs. 03 Cobra.
I was on my home from work about an hour ago and i run into a supercharged Cobra at a light. I know it was supercharged because i could hear it as he revved and i saw his boost and A/F ratio guages on the pillar. The first race was from a dig at a light up until about 100 or so, we had to slow down because of traffic. I beat him by a few cars on that one. He couldnt get traction, and i launched perfectly. Next race was from about a 30mph roll. I honked 3 times and got the jump, he pulls on me pretty hard and gets about a car on me, but i slowly pull on him until i get to his fender at about 100, when we shut down. I was pulling on him during his shifts, a few feet every shift. Next race was at another light. We go again, he doesnt get any traction and i hold about a 3 car lead on him until about 100 again. Next race was at a light in front of a police station. We go on green and again he doesnt get any traction until about 2nd gear. This time i shut down at about 80 because of traffic. The result was the same as the previous races. I signal him to follow me and we stop in a local neighborhood to chat. He asked how much horsepower i was putting to the wheels and i said "not much". Then i told him my mods, and asked him what year. He says 03. Then he said he bought the car about a year ago from a girl who also had a hayabusa. He said it had aftermarket headers(didnt say if they were longtubes or what), catback, pulley and a few other things. He was also on some sort of crappy tire, that i have never heard of, nor can i pronounce, so thats why he couldn't launch. I asked him what he was putting to the wheels and he said some performance shop, (cant remeber who he said), said about 450. I just said "damn". So we head back and get one more race in. Isnt it wierd how when you want to get stopped at a light, it never happens. So we're going like 20 under to try to get a light and we finally do. We go again and he launched even worst, looked like he was doing a burnout in the mirror. Well anyway i launched pretty good again and he just blew by me like i was standing still. Im thinking he must have been spraying cause i know he was raceing in the previous races. Well anyway he speeds off and turns off somewhere so i couldnt ask him wtf happened that time.
Im running with the mods in the sig, on 315 BFG DR's in the rear, no front swaybar, the spare tire and jack removed, and no seats except for the heavy, power, leather drivers seat, and about 1/4 tank of 92 octane. Im going to the 1/8 mile track on friday so hopefully i'll get some good times. Hopefully i'll be getting it weighted sometime so i can get a raceweight.
Anyway. Does this seem right. I thought these things were alot faster.

But you would think that in the roll race, he would have beaten me worse. I was begining to pull on him when we got up to 100 or so, then he let off.
Hopefully i will me up with him again sometime.
