Re: Lightning

Good chances you will loose...99-01 generally run mid to higher 13's stock... 01 up run lower to mid 13's bone stock

Re: Lightning

They are quick from a stop.Topend would be better for you.I see them trap 99 to 102 stock. The et's are mid to high 13's.You have a chance to run with them,if you win or lose it, that will be up to the normal street racing varaibles.

Re: Lightning

I raced one who said he was modded enough to beat C5 Vettes. Wether is was true or not, idono. I ran him from a roll a few times, I edged past him each time getting about a fender to a car on him each time. This was with Longtubes, Lingenfelter CAI, and GMMG catback and alot of exhaust leakage. I think if he was stock it would be decently close, if not, I think you would lose. Moral, mod up and go for one.

Re: Lightning

Unless the person driving the Lightning messes up bad, especially in this cold weather, your toast wether from a dead stop or a roll.

$800 in mods and you have a L like mine....

Re: Lightning

I don't see all the fuss about the Lightning (in stock form).

It's quick and all...but I think you would do better than you think.
It has a ton of potential, as do most vehicles that come with a power adder (blower or turbo).

My wife has an 04 Lightning, all stock. We bought it new about 9 months ago, and it now has about 8k on it.

My car is not stock and have no problem beating one.

It's a great truck.Ford did their homework and made a nice package, steering and stopping as well as it goes.

Go for it and "try" one!

Re: Lightning

Your car is not stock...and you can beat a stock Lightning...

Since it has a supercharger, it should be quick...just think if they did not weigh 4800 lbs and have brick aerodynamics.

A Ford rear end in a GM? Blasphemy! Those are some steep gears with that much power. You must have some good tires.

Guess thats close to an 03-04 Cobra?

Yes Steve...Traction used to be a real concern...now it's better with some rear suspension mods. And decent tires.

Re: Lightning

He might edge you out by a couple carlengths by 100 since you're mostly stock. Those trucks are pretty quick stock, especially off the line. And a smaller SC pulley, exhaust, and intake and they're in the 12s. Navigator 4V heads on one with higher boost will take it deep into the 11s easily. But some headers and a cutout will turn the tables for you, i'm sure, IF he's stock.

Just run him and let us know how it goes. Good luck

Re: Lightning

I've ran CantonRacer's Lightning probably close to 50 times now - 1/4 mile track and freeway. They have more freeway pull than you think - from 40-50-60 etc... rolls he pulls about 2 cars on me and holds it. I don't consider my car an all-world beater but it's pretty quick yet his L is one bad ****. I've driven it home from the track and raced it at the track as well and i'm impressed by the way they ride, handle, hook, and race. Nice trucks - most people dog them because they are trucks but come to our area and run him - he has a pretty stout truck for the small investment of mods.
