Lancer Evolution - Nuf said

I just got to my computer fresh off of a street race... My 1996 Camaro SS M6 vs. a new Mitsu. Lancer Evolution. He kicked my rear off a stoplight launch (all wheel drive is a beautiful thing I guess, but I dont want it in my car) and I quit when I hit the rev limiter in 2nd (about 60) due to traffic but I was catching up to him. I had 4 people in my car compared to his 2, and I could blame the loss on the damp roads and extra weight for my car but I wont, he got that far ahead of me off the start, I'll be honest.

Before the stoplight I was beside him at about 40 and punched it, he nosed me out until he had to shift and then I pulled on ahead. I told my friends that his car probably couldn't do any better than mine in the 1/4 because he wasn't that strong after 60-70.

His turbo was SCREAMIN, it didn't sound like something Mitsubishi would put in a stock car, but I asked him to make sure... it was a REAL Evolution

I could turbo my car and beat every dang rice-burner in Bowling Green I guess, but I definetly lost this one. How embarassing

i have a 2002 z28 i raced one the other night. We went on a green light. he put 2 cars on me off the line (i spun kinda bad). they have GREAT traction. as soon as i hit sencond i pulled up closer to him, at about 90 i blew his doors off! i shut down at about 120 had 2 cars on him! those things are quick off the line! ls1's still rule!!!!!!!!! He had at least 200 hp worth of stickers. lol

I seen a magazine test of one that said it could get the 1/4 in about 14.2... last time I checked that was about .6 slower than my 13.6.. but yeah what are the chances that the first time I have ever had 4 people in my car is this time....

Quick isn't the word for that car off the line. I'm almost positive that I would have had similar results except that I shut down at 60 (just about the time I was catching him) due to traffic.

If your gonna get so burned up everytime a non domestic car beats you, especially one faster stock, your gonna get an ulcer
Ahh, I'm not sweating it too much.. I wouldn't trade my car for his any day, and I could have taken him in a longer race. This is my first ever encounter with a halfway fast 4-cylinder car.. and the way he took off from a dead stop on a damp road was something that I can only respect.

A stock Evo is capable of mid 13's pretty easily. They are real quick.

Stock Evo's do low to mid 13s at 102ish. That means don't race them from a stop unless you have good traction or trap a lot higher than 102. From a roll is their weakness.

yeah, there is a Bowling Green in Kentucky.. there is also one in Ohio. The Kentucky version is well known for such things as the Corvette Assembly Plant and National Corvette Museum among other things.

You need to update your car knowledge, they run low 13's fairly easy stock...So if your running a 13.6 chances are you'll lose, it'll kill you outta the hole no doubt and u probably wont have enough power to hawk him down..Actually the slowest ive seen one run was a 13.4 stock

If you could really hear his turbo, he probably had an aftermarket intake (Not that that adds much).

These cars pick up alot of power with some simple bolt-ons. Trust me. I know.

Stock the Evo Vlll's are running what 19 psi on the turbo? Wouldnt surprise me that you could hear his turbo with that much boost What MrBonus said could also play into it also. I love the new Evo though

I was wondering if anyone here has raced an sti. My friend has one and I was wondering what it would take to walk him from a roll. I know I can't now, never tried but I figure, was wondering what I would have to have done to my car.
