Killed a Talon running 19lb of boost

I was running home with my friend in the car and we see a little ricer pulling out of a gas station so i slow down and wait for him to ctach up. He pulls up beside me and then goes WOT before i can even downshift. I find him at the next light and we go. I pull maybe 1 car before the next light. Next light i pull a little more. Then he pulls up to me and we chat alittle. Then i had to tell him that his engine was smoking. So we say goodbye and i then relie i had the A/C on the whole time. All in all good race and i liked the guy.

good kill, I guess he told you he was running 19lbs. of boost while you chatted? Not that I don't believe you but just wondering where the title comes into play?

Yeah we chatted at the lights and told each other our mods. I was thinking he would be faster than me but i ended up beating him out each time.

Boost pressure alone means nothing -- you've got to be flowing air (CFM) to make power. No matter what's under the hood, you're going to have to burn the same amount of air and gas to make a given amount of power. So, 19 psi on an otherwise stock car is nothing near what 19 psi makes on a car with real mods.

And I'd hope that the Camaro, like every other modern vehicle, automatically kills the AC compressor at WOT...

The new camaro shouldnt have that. If it does though, how will the mustang gt be able to keep up.

? I am alittle lost as to what you mean. 4th gen Camaros, like pretty much every vehicle sold now, shut off the compressor at WOT, so it doesn't matter at all if it is on or not.

Ok maybe i dont know what im talking about but i just never heard of it. My formula doesnt shut off the a/c when i go WOT so i figured that all of them dont. Maybe it does shut off but there cold air still coming through the vent? Im sorry you guys got offended by my novice mistake about something i never heard of.

I didnt know that 4th gens apparently had the compressor shut off. I was saying that the new one shouldnt because the prototype camaro has 400hp to the crank meaning the only way the new mustang gt would be even close to keeping up is if the a/c was on in the camaro. It was supposed to be a joke but either i worded it wrong, you didnt understand it or im just stupid and should by a honduh.

The blower motor may still be blowing out air, but the compressor does indeed shut off.

The SHO doesn't shut down the A/C compressor until you go above 5,000 RPM - WOT or not.

Good kill, and a decent competitor!
