Lately I've had a lot of ricer type fly-by's on me. This is happening on a somewhat frequent basis.

While out for a cruise, I had a Mustang V6 doing this. We were sitting in traffic, I see a mustang coming up real fast behind me. Had foglights, scoop, the works. I genuinely thought it was a V8 and was excited because the only Stang I've raced so far that was an 8... 04 Cobra, and you can imagine how that went . So then I see it's just a 6 with the appearance package I guess. Guy is sitting there I hear him rev his engine and such. Mind you, we're BOTH behind cars so I don't really give it any thought. I tap my gas to about 1500, didn't really make much noise. Yes, I probably egged him on, but that wasn't my goal. Light turns green and I ease away from the light. All of a sudden I hear tires screech and he goes FLYING by me right upto the car in front of him. I give it a little gas in 2nd right next to his window and just go through the gears like normal. Then for about 3 more miles, I'm just driving like normal and he's in and out of traffic, flying past and to the next car in front of him every chance he gets, literally. At one point I was like ok enough of this and just planted it in 2nd at around 30mph. Tires struggled and it looked like he was sitting still. I pulled a lane over, as we had plenty of room in front of us I wanted to see what he had to say cuz I saw his window go down. Just slingshots past me at what I had to guess would be close to 100mph. I kinda just sat there dumbfounded and stuck my hand out the window to wave bye. He gets off the highway and honks a few times I didn't get it and pulled a u-turn and headed home. I don't really care cuz it was a V6, had it been an 8 pulling those antics I'd have been a little more upset.

I don't quite understand it. I don't go out and pick on ppl on the road. If I see a car that looks like it'd be a fun race, I'll pace him and see if he bites. If not then I just continue along. Not really a rant, not even a kill, but do things like this happen to anyone else? Or did I manage to find everyone on the planet that does that.

It sounds to me like you egged him on to race when there was no room to do it, but he was a dumbass so he does the weaving through traffic routine and you don't, so he "wins." Maybe you're doing this quite often, even without being consciously aware of it. I can tell you that it almost never happens to me, and I live in Ricer heaven, SoCal.

 

I bet it never gets old blowing their doors off, either.

 

I live in Socal and there's plenty of rice but around here they don't really cause problems that I hear about on this site. In fact alot of them are actually respectful.

 

I was goin down to Clemson this weekend and had my girl and our little 4 month old baby girl in the car with us with the cruise set on 64mph and these 2 ricer cars all kitted and spoilered up came flying out of nowhere and just blowed by us in a line goin about 80 or 90. My girl looked at me and said Im sooo sorry!!! I never lifted up on the cruise.....If I was by myself I would have lit them up with the strobes in the headlights... ...Idiots!!

 

Should have just flashed the stobes for a few seconds to scare the hell out of them. Good job keeping your cool though, only person I race with in the car is my friend who owns an SRT-4.

GJ to you too Supra, weaving through traffic is not good. I watched a friend of mine in a base model Neon pull a couple of 360s after he was trying to weave through traffic. Didn't hit anyone else's car and no one got hurt so I can make fun of him for it. And so everyone knows, I wasn't racing him, I mean come on, a base Neon? And I was in my Mom's 150hp '95 4-Runner (Most underpowered vehicle ever made...)
