Just bought a 95 Z28

Hello,

I just bought a 95 Z28 convertible (only 70K on it!!).

Its a weekend toy, to have some fun with.

Anyway, its an auto, fully loaded. I am curious as to the 0-60
and 1/4 time for this AUTO Z28, it is totally stock.

Thanks

Mid to low 14s in the 1/4 at 97ish and low 6s 0-60. Which gears does it have? Congrats on the new car and welcome to the board!

Good question on the gears, I am not sure.
How do I tell what gears it has in it?

I even have the window sticker and everything on this car.
The previous owner took really good care of it.

Take a look:

One other question I have. Since this car is totally stock and not
my daily driver. I am debating if I should keep it stock and hold onto it for many years (have a 2004 Acura TL) and this car won't see huge milage over the next 5 years.

Or should I put a cat-back system and K&N intake system onto it?

Just thinking that one day this particular car will be a classic and
not sure if messing with the exhaust will ruin that. I can put the K&N system in and save the original parts.

Will these two changes (cat back & K&N intake system) make a descent change in the performance of the car?

(My TL got smoked by what I believe was a 2003 AMG I am not sure but think it was a 500 series or 55 series, do they still make the 55 series?)

Later.

I think it would take a long time before that car would become a classic. By the time that car is classic we will probably not be using gasoline in cars :-P

I vote for HP.

To check the gears look at your shifting column if you have P-R-N-OD-D-2 Then you have 2.73's...if you have P-R-N-OD-D-2-1 Then you have 3.23's.

That will work if you are absolutley sure no one ever put gears in the car. You can also jack up the rear end, mark the drive shaft and one back tire and spin the rear tires. Count how many revolutions of driveshaft makes compared to the rear tire. If the driveshaft spins about 2.73 times for every revolution of the tire then you have 2.73's, etc.

Also check out this link. See how fast your car goes in 1st or 2nd gear tached out and compare to the chart.

http://www.f-body.org/gears/

If you have 2.73s the first mod to do is take the shifter column apart and cut off the black plastic cube with a hacksaw blade only, that limits the shifter travel to 1st gear. Then you will be able to put the car in 1st gear anytime you want.

I would mod the crap out of that car and sell the TL if it was me. Intake and exhaust, pulley, airfoil, etc. will really wake up that LT1. The TL and the Z28 are about the same in the 1/4 mile right?

Or just tell us what your RPM's are in drive (not overdrive) at say, 60mph)
Actually it will be about 44 mph at 5700 rpm in 1st gear with 3.23 gears or 52 mph at 5700 rpm in 1st gear with 2.73 gears. Try it and get back to us.

My first gear ends at 40 or a little above. Do I have 2.73s?

BTW Those 04' TLs are very nice. Keep it stock and it will keep it's value, you obviously have money, so mod the hell out of your Z and have a good time. I bought a 95' a month ago for a weekend car like you. Good stuff
