I was WALKED by an R32 Skyline with upgraded Apexi twins

So I'm leaving my dyno tuning session feeling rather high and mighty having picked up an additional 55 hp to the wheels from tuning alone.

I'm following NIGHTMARE/Bauerstealth who had come out to see what my 'lil 4-banger could do. If you're unfamiliar with NIGHTMARE's car, it's a '94 Skyline GTR R32 with a dogbox and a pair of Apexi turbos (Twin RX6Bs, I believe? They're closely equivelant to a Garrett GT30) capable of supporting around 1100 hp if you're willing to build the bottom end for it.

Anyway, we're cruising side by side at about 70 MPH, poking the throttle a bit (As I'm appreciating my newly found BOV sound thanks to an AEM intake), when I decide to punch it after shooting NIGHTMARE a malicious grin. As my turbo comes online right around 3100 in 5th, I rapidly downshift to 4th, putting me right in my sweet spot and pull about a half a car length on the Skyline.

I first hear a whining dogbox (If you've never heard this, it sounds like a transmission howling before it grenades into pieces) and then a loud, piercing hiss coming from my driver's side rear quarter panel. As I'm looking over, I see a blinding white blur as the Skyline howls into boost and flies by me at a disturbing pace.

I shut down at around 95 MPH seconds later, realizing I've just lost by about oh, 8-12 car lengths(!)? It's tough to measure from that far back. NIGHTMARE throws on his hazards and slows down as all I can do is look over and shake my head in disbelief.

Does anyone know anyone that can get me a GT35R for cheap?

Turbo 6s shouldn't pick on turbo 4s.

Yeah, turbos are cool.

I started with 225 WHP with only a short ram intake and a turboback but with some SAFC-II tuning, I was up to 279.4. The car is probably faster than my Z28 or Cobra ever were.

I hate to nitpick but unless the Evo has really short gears compared to the DSMs, shouldn't you have used 3rd from a 70 roll? Not that it would have affected the outcome that much but every little bit helps.

Probably. We were just messing around. I knew I didn't stand a chance so I didn't take it too seriously.

I have always wanted to take a ride in a turbo car. Never have, hey it is perfectly fine to lose to a $100,000 car. Nice Evo man havent had a chance to see one in person yet.

Because it's a good story.

If you don't like it, don't read it.

I can read a good story on other sites. I'm expecting to read at least something about an f-body when I read a new thread in this part of the forum.

Nice EVO.

Thanks.

If you ever get the chance, do it. It's a different experience.

My '95 Z28 made 300 RWHP but made full torque very, very low. It was deceptively quick because you could feel the power at pretty much any point in the powerband.

Having all of the torque hit right at around 3 grand is exhilerating and is a totally different experience. Also, there's nothing like getting 100% traction at low speeds right when you want it.

My buddy should be down from Jersey in my old Z28 (12.7@108 on BFG DRs) next month. We'll line 'em up and I'll include that story in this thread.

I don't aim to disapoint.

Now THAT sounds like a post I'd like to read. Keep us informed.
