So me and a friend of mine wanted to line them up and we did 2 rolls from 30 mph since he cant go from digs. First run i beep 3 times and right after he pulls i'd say 1-1.5 cars on me since I have a slowmatic and it had to downshift well he keeps that much on me and around 110 mph I blow past him. Well i find out 1 min later that he was on low boost and that he missed 4th gear. Next run we do he beeps 3 times and the same **** happens he pulls 1-1.5 cars right after and holds that we stop at around 115 and he's a good 2 cars in head of me....I was starting to pull at this point but I dont feel like going that fast. He has a 04' Srt-4 with boost controller, wastegate, cutout, downpipe, and stage 1, and I have the mods in my sig. From a dig I know I can beat him but I was a little surprised I lost from a roll of 30 mph.........

 

Ah man, that sucks, is anything wrong with your car? Every srt-4 ive raced, ive beat, some not by much but I've beaten them. My car runs close to yours, so maybe he's one hell of a driver, just tell him to go from a roll .

Sorry, i meant dig. But anyway, from a 30 roll did you hook up? I know when i punch it at 25-30 she doesnt like to hook very well, or at all. If so thats your problem, it happend to me plenty of times, embarrasing.

if u r trapping 107 and he pulled u over a car instantly and slowly kept pulling. i would say he atleast sprayed a 50 shot on you. but ya never know , some of them srt4 run pretty good with open exhaust

 

Naa he doesnt have spray on his car. Just seems like with this auto by the time I downshifter he got the headstart already.

 

Good death. Modded SRT-4's are no joke. I think overall you still have a slightly faster car. But a 30-40 mph roll up to 110 or so is the SRT-4's favorite spot to run a race. They can't launch for **** so a dig hurts them and thier top end isn't quite as good as ours so 110+ isn't a bargain for them either. Most of the SRT-4 guys on srtforums say 40 mph is about thier sweetest spot to start a race in.

If you had gone from a 65 roll or a dig I think the result would have gone the other way but from a 30 roll that sounds about right. Get a good torque converter with a nice shift extension and he'll be hard pressed to beat you even from a low speed roll.

Well we already lined them up at the track and I came out victorious. He ran a best time of 13.7 at 105, but his car runs a little bit better now I think. I think im gonna try him from a 30 again this time Im gonna manually shift it...I practiced today and it defiently throws u back in ur seat pretty good.

 

The wastegate (probably just a wastegate actuator), stage 1 and boost contoller probably makes him trap about the same as you. If you had run from a dig you'd likely have slaughtered him. Good death

 

The problem was the mph you started at, out A4's suck at downshifting. The stock shift points for a 3.23 4L60E are:
1-2 35mph
2-3 85mph
3-4 135mph
At 30 mph, the tranny won't downshift to 1st most of the time. You're left winding out 2nd from about 36-3800 RPMs (that's far below the peak of 4900). That's why he jumped on you so bad. If you go from 15-25 (and get traction), the downshift from 3rd to 1st will happen and you'll land at about 44-4600 RPMs much better.

I personally like going from 55-65, that catches a 4th to 2nd downshift that puts the RPMs at 4500+ or so, it really pins you to you seat.

 

stock srt-4s are no joke , buddy has one only has a bov and cai and he ran 13.5 basically stock , they are ls1 territory , stock lt1s stand no chance, and i hate it

 

that isn't any faster. It takes just as long for the tranny to downshift as it does for you to downshift. Dig or nothing when facing the SRT-4.

I wouldnt say stock LT1's stand no chance. I know several guys that live in my area that have ran 13.5's@103-104 in stock LT1's, and i know a ton of SRT guys that run 14 flats or worse stock. But i do get your point, SRT-4's are nasty and my friend just got a beautiful orange one.
