LS1's gain a huge edge with the minor Bolt ons though!!!
I have seen them run high 13's but some credible people I know are swearing they have seen stock ones that run mid 13's all day long on street tires. So beware of the Mach. They already have better gears for the quarter from the factory not to mention they have a pretty damn good suspension setup. Horsepower aint everything.
Take one for a test drive if you can. They got quite a bit more go juice then a Stock pre 05 GT.

I raced one when I was stock. Had NP what so ever beating him" On the highway from a roll@55" From a dig, as long as the driver was good, im sure it would have been a god race. Machs stick well and come outa the whole with some fury.
Modded I have raced a few but thats completely unfair to discuss the results as I am cammed.
I am wondering how cammed machs are running? I bet they probably put down some pretty good numbers.

So even a moded lt1 would have a hard time running a mach 1.If the mach 1 drivers pretty good.Because the best the car did with the old setup was a 13.20 and now i havent dialed her in just yet.I had a problem with my plug wires makeing love to my headers.suspentions kicking my *** also i cant get the car to hook up.

I had a 94 Trans Am with the following mods:
LT-4 hot cam, 1.6 RR's, headers, no cats with Flowmasters, PCMFORLESS tune, LT-4 Knock Module, Drag Radials, bored .20, CAI, Built 4L60E with a Corvette cervo. and ran a best 13.30 with a 60ft. time of 1.9 secs. I did have 3.23 gears though.
My Mach 1 has flowmasters, Predator tune and K&N CAI and ran 13.30 with a 60 ft. time of 2.1 secs.

I am sure that with the right gears either car can run better but consider I dropped 4k-5k in mods in the TA. A stock LT-1, or with bolt-on will not outrun a mach 1 MOST of the time. Given equal drivers and trans it is definitely not likely. I outrun a 98 Camaro the other day that was stock with a 6 speed. I've outrun a modded 01 formula and a 04 lightning last weekend. These Mach's are no pushovers.

Yea there strong runners, a number have hit 12's w/ no more then a set of drag radials...and as you see from Mikie they wake up huge from gears n exhaust

re: mach vs. LS1, the edge goes to the LS1 in an f-body manual coupe, the edge goes to the mach vs. the 04 gto (I read this in a pontiac magazine. 99/01 cobras are slower than mach but not by much

I'd love to run a stock MACH 1 as I think it would be a good race. I trust Mikie's results, as I've seen other posts where he is very honest about cars that he's driven. Just knowing the power to weight, and the gearing of the MACH1, it's hard to imagine it trapping much over 104. Even so, trapping 104 is pretty dang quick, and getting 13.35 is doing great on street tires for a 104 trap speed. What are MACH 1's putting down to the rear wheels, ON AVERAGE? It takes a decent amount of bolt on's for a LT1 to hit 104 traps.

but is it cheaper to make a fast lt1 over and ls1 i have both and use the ls1 as a daily drive and the lt1 as a weekend ride.I dont have very much in it but the stroker kits are get really cheap to do.but ls1s make better # for little mods if done right.

Because after this thread i think i need to do a lot more to stay ahead before a moded mach eats my lunch!

A stock Mach 1 normally dyno about 275-290hp. They are rated at 310hp. The automatics redline at 5800 rpms while the manuals top out at 6800 rpms.

I intend on getting and x-pipe and some DR's and dip into the mid-high 12's. My 60ft. was 2.11 sec. with a trap speed of 106 mph. I should be in the 12s with a set of slicks. Also it being a Mustang there is a flood of aftermarket mods readily available.

I believe Ford finally got the N/A 4.6l they wanted. To bad it took them so many years to get it right.
