hotcam l1s in the 7's on the 1/8?
anyone own a hotcam car in the high 7's here? im tryin to get there without using the spray...best this season was just an 8.8 with a 1.9 60ft, but i have done some suspension stuff and struggled with a few ignition and transmission problems (splitfire plugs are garbage, so are accel 9000 wires). I feel confident that i can put down a solid 8.4 with my slicks on a cool night.
Re: hotcam l1s in the 7's on the 1/8?
My old setup was K&N intake, SLP headers, off road pipe, flowmaster exhaust, my first attempt at homeported heads, HOTcam kit, 2800 stall and a PCMforless tune. My first run down the eighth with the mail order tune was an 8.1. Keep in mind that was bone stock suspension (on drag radials) and with an arguably low stalling converter. I think a dyno tune and or 3500 stall would have gotten that car into the 7's.
Re: hotcam l1s in the 7's on the 1/8?
I ran an 8.28 in the 1/8th mile with the mods in sig. I did not have nitrous at that time. I was running with no tune for the cam, stock heads, bone stock suspension, and my converter is a restalled stock peice of junk. I think 7's is possible. Peace, Dustin.

Yeah, most of your 1/8 mile ET is dependent on how well you hook up and put the power down. I don't know your current TC situation but now's the time for a higher stall if you don't have one already. That plus the slicks should maximize all forward thrust
edit: I see you've got a 2k rpm non-locking TC. I've seen a few mph gained by using a locking Precision Industries piece (used a manual lock button inside the car) but it was mostly in the 1/4 because you don't want to lock it till 3rd gear.

hmmm....maybe my old 93z WAS just a freak....i had the normal bolt ons, automatic with the STOCK converter, on street tires, no internal engine parts ever touched and i believe my best pass in the 1/8th was like 8.3@85mph, on my way to a 13.2@108mph 1/4 pass.

Wow, I'm only running 8.80's at 80mph in the 1/8 with my mods

I have a 94 TA LT1 auto. with stock gears, LT4 Hot Cam Kit, Holly 52mm TB, SLP shorty Headers, Offroad Pipe, Ram Air Hood and induction, Borla Exhaust, Ed Wright mail order programming, SLP cheap 500 over stock converter, MT ET street 26x11x16 tires. I ran a best of 7.94@90 on a very cool day (40's) have backed it up with a couple of 7.96 and 7.98 runs. Mostly during normal temps I run 8.1's and 8.2's. Ran it at the TA Nats a couple of years ago in the 1/4 and ran a 12.74@106 with a high speed miss right before it shifted. I have since put an MSD6Al on it and it seems to be better but i still get a little stutter right before it shifts. Trans is all stock also. I removed the front sway bar and spare tire also on these runs.
