Honda with Spoon engine??

There is a guy that I am going to go track down that has been talking a bunch of **** about his car. All I know is that its a Honda with I think an R22 Spoon engine? It is a non-turbo car but does have nitrous. I dont know how big a shot it is or what those motors are capable of spraying. He said his engine is all chromed out but he wont pop the hood for just anyone. My friend was driving my car when he came across this guy and I guess he is about 45 minutes from here and I am going to go looking for him. What can u guys tell me about this motor and such?? Thanks, Dustin.

p.s. He has a bunch of stickers that I am kind of worried about

Re: Honda with Spoon engine??

there was a video i saw that did a montage on a RSX-S with a R22 motor swap. (it's spohn btw, although spoon motor is pretty funny) Wasn't very fast, just a little honda motor.

I wouldn't imagine it running too large a shot, nor would i imagine it being a challange for your car.

Spohn makes suspension parts, Spoon is a tuning company in Japan that builds race motors, and have their own team.

Re: Honda with Spoon engine??

I have heard about fast hondas but have never seen one brake 14s yet at our local track. I lined up against some turbo /nitroused civic with my 96z last year and figured would get destroyed . I ran a 14.3 at 96 with a 2.18 60ft on nittos and he ran a 16.5 at like 85 think on street tires. Not sure what happened but think he spun them off and then backed out of it.

But he didn't run much better all night. There was another honda running last week and thought it was turbo but it had some kind of mocked up intercooler heard there is some intake kit that looks like that now.. It ran 15.8s best and really low mph forget think like 80 or something.

Ran a desol that ran 17s against my 14.4.

So sure there are some fast ones out there but just haven't seen it yet.
I am ready for them this year in my 96z as added asp underdrive,2800 vig stall ,some suspension work and have zex 125 shot to install shortly. Also waiting in wings for next year have CC305 and 1.6 nsa comp pro mags and should have some mac mids and LE2 heads by next springs also. So bring it on hondas.

And then have my 99 modded up Ta and soon to be highly modded up 97 Talon. Fwd cars have serious traction problems on street tires. If they aren't on drag tires usually they can't 60ft worth crap. Course our rwd cars can have some problems in that department too..

Re: Honda with Spoon engine??

its an h22 not r22. h22 are the big blocks of the honda world. if its in a civic hatch and its setup right it could be fast. but who knows theres not enough info race him and find out.

Spoons make it easier to mix rice faster.

LOL... that is awsome!!! (almost woke the wife up laughing)

one of my friends has a lot of spoon parts in his civic, and he runs 14's @ 100ish mph (it's n.a., and has almost everything taken out of it)... and it's set for racing on curves and not a 1/4 mile track, so they can be quick... they are expensive parts, but for people that want to go jdm they are one of THE brands to have for the honda world...

Re: Honda with Spoon engine??

I used to work with a guy who had a hatchback Civic... he was always drooling over a Spoon engine and drivetrain swap. Cost was around $10,000 without installation and power would be bumped to roughly 200-220hp. I believe the suspension was more of a road course setup versus drag.

From what he was always blabbing, the motor could handle some decent levels of boost, so he was going to add a turbo and show me a few things against my SS. He was anticipating getting it up to 300hp with boost, but he traded the car in on a new Prelude before getting the coveted "spoon".
