GTO vs. C5
GTO vs. C5
I've had 2 races since I had my GTO, and didn't have the bottle open for either, so on my way home from the lake last night I had some time to kill and decided to open the bottle (man I need a rbv) and look for a race. After about 20 minutes of prowling the streets that usually net me races I ran into a 2000-2004 Pewter C5. It definitely had exhaust (looked like Corsa) but I have no idea what other mods if any. Don't know if he was a stick or auto either. We were stopped at a light, him in front of me, with a car in front of him and 2 cars beside us, so I couldn't get next to him. We sat at the light for about 30 seconds with him revving the whole time
I don't know what he thought he was going to do in traffic but he was obviously aware that I was behind him. I followed him through the light and about a mile later managed to get beside him and threw a rev. There was a car in my lane, but God was on my side this day and he turned about a 1/4 mile later. This left me and the c5 with about a mile of open road before the next light. I was doing about 35 in 2nd gear and had the switch armed, waiting for him to jump. He hammered it first, then I did. By the top of 2nd (about 62 mph) I was a good 2-3 cars ahead and pulling strong. Nice cool night and my car felt faster than ever on the juice. We stayed in it til about 95 or so and I had an easy 5-6 cars on him. Wasn't really close at all. Started to slow for the approaching red light and rolled down my window to tell him good race and find out his mods, but as soon as I did, he pulled into the turning lane and made a U. Not a wave or anything. Poor loser
This is my first race with another LS1 and I would've like to have known what he was running
Thanks for reading,
Jason
