.and what happens when the Ls2 has those same bolt ons. Sounds like were getting back to the old Lt1/Ls! arguments

The Ls2 goat is atleast a good 1/2 second faster from what ive been seeing....Most 04's run mid to higher 13's. The Ls1 goat didnt do much for me (and obviously others by the sales) seeing it was the same engine in the fbodies but only in a heavier car...the ls2 version is a different story

Re: GTO story

I have run a silver one only because he didnt like me dropping into 3rd as he got in the turning lane. This fool whipped out of the turning lane, got back beside me and it was on. My car has run a 12.97 and is consistant in the low 13's so I wasn't afraid. Nevertheless it wasn't a race. He just didn't like the fact that someone had something for him. 400 hp or not. They don't impress me, especially When a stock A4 accept for 3.73 gears can run right beside them.

But it's not like the '04's are anything to laugh about though....I think referring to them as "pigs" is a bit ignorant...

I am 26 and have owned four F-Bodies, and I will say this:
It isn't just the motors that make the 04(+) GTO a great car. Frankly, the car is leaps and bounds ahead of the F-Body is overall build quality, materials, comfort, etc. All this is delivered for right at, or slightly less then a new SS/WS6 would have cost you in 2002. Even if it can't beat the LS1 F cars in a straight line race, it is still the better overall car IMHO. It makes me sick sometimes thinking about the crap we F-Body owners deal with, such as squeeks, rattles, cheap build, crappy seats, harsh ride, glass rear ends (etc). It took owning a new GTO for me to realize that great cars can pamper you a bit, and still hold their own at the stop light.

Overall better car to who? You? You're biased so your opinion doesn't count.

Biased? Obviously I must be, considering I currently own both a 2002 Z28 and a 2004 GTO. IMHO the 4th gen F-Bodies aren't as good overall as the new GTO. That isn't to say there aren't points in favor of the F-Body over the GTO.But, if I could only keep one, I know which one it'd be

Go to the GTO section of this board, or any other LS1 site. Poll those that have owned both if you think I am being unreasonable and not giving credit where credit is due.

Re: GTO story

The only problems with the GTO are that they are heavy and don't have the looks everyone likes. They are a better car body wise than my SS and they seem to handle well. I like the look of the 05's better.

Re: GTO story

I now own my 3rd f-body, and an '04 GTO. For daily driving, the GTO is by far the winner in comfort, and has more power than you need for a daily driver. However, for a driving car, I love the f-body. It's so nice to pop the tops off and drive around in that low slung car. The f-body is much more of a sports car, as opposed to the GTO being in the BMW type category.
I had a chance to take my '95 TA and my '04 GTO out to Barber Motorsports Park for a track event. I will say the GTO was a nice smooth very well mannered ride around the track. And not slow in comparison. The TA was also very well out there, but I'm also building it to be a really good track car.

Bottom line, they are two totally different cars. I love the looks of a 4th gen f-body over the GTO anyday. But the GTO is a more refined car, and much tamer on the looks.

Have you seen the new prototype of the Challenger? 2 door, 6 speed, 420hp in a 6.1 liter Hemi, same EXACT front-end as a '70-'70 Challenger... it's absolutely GORGEOUS!
