I was watching the speed channel and they were driving the new gto and it was an auto and it went 0-60 in 6 sec. now from what I've seen online the lt1 camaro's did it in 5.5 sec shouldn't the gto beat it 0-60

 

LT1s were rated at 5.7 from 0-60. Yes the GTO is a lot faster than that.

 

was it the episode where they compare it to the new gt? if so it was great, really laid into ford on how much better (in their professional opinion) gm cars were.

 

Yes that was the episode but still from what I've seen the lt1 camaros 0-60 was 5.5 and it said on the show the gto did it in 6 sec

 

I just finished watching that episode too. Yeah lol seemed real biased to me... Well they did the testing in Arizona, and the quarter mile they listed for the GTO was like 14 seconds or something and the same for the Mustang, so I imagine they couldn't get the GTO to hook, and it must have been hot...

Yes they are very heavy, but they have LS2s in them which more than makes up the difference. The 05's are consistently hitting 12's.

 

Something doesn't add up. The new GTO's should be able to cut a 0-60 in way under 6 seconds. Maybe they had traction control on?

 

C&D's comparison between the mustang and the GTO was perhaps the most biased POS article i've ever seen. They gave the win to the mustang when the GTO clearly beat it in every single performance test.

C&D really, really hates the GTO. That's all i can say.

 

It depends on the driver. I ran one with my slow GTP and kicked his ***. He ran on the 14's. He finally got it to hook up and got a best of 13.69. My best pass with the GTP was a 13.65. Felt pretty good that my slow GTP could keep up with an 05 GTO. I'm sure there are faster ones out there, but there are probably enough non drivers to go araound and nothing is certain on the street.

 

Very true. I cancelled my C&D sub. cause of that article.

On a side note, I get consistent 5.4's 0-60 with my 04 GTO off bottle (Gtech), so 6.0 is pretty sad.
